Can you post a photo of your fuel adaptor or give me a bit more detail?
I have a D-Max and not being able to use Hiflo is driving me nuts!
Thanks mate

I thought the Dmax had the Hiflo opening
The clamp is just tight enough to fit over gun.
Tube from the big green shed in those lengths.
I melted both sections together with soldering iron then put some silicone around outside.
You still have to be carefull of the flo rate though, I just have trigger in about half way.
Edit.....It lives in a zip lock bag in the glovebox, Mate.

Never used one.
And I find, the most important thing to fuel flowing uninterupted into your tank.
Is the angle of the nozzle handle.
Stick it in, pull trigger and swivel from (in my case) Right to left.
when angle right. Full flow,
and with truck nozzle. Around 3\4 flow.
Don't be impatient, you only putting a few drops in.
I filled my tank at work. 1 1\2 ton a shift. And that wasn't a big one.
Mate an engineer on a Rig Supply\Maint Tug.
They use 30 ton a day when towing. 12 to 18 when working.
1 ton a day just with small Generator on wharf.
Try filling that tank up hey.

Gday...
Good advice from your experience Macka.
However, many cars/4x4's do not have a a filler inlet for the fuel that is large enough to take a hi-flow diesel nozzle.
It will only take a 'ulp' or 'standard' fuel nozzle.
Hence, one has only three options -
only use the 'low-flow' diesel nozzle;
buy a hi-flow to 'narrow neck' filler adaptor; or
make ya own ... like young Dougie did.

Fair 'nuff John.
I never found the need to jam all the juice in as fast as I can. Normally it's Under 150 ltrs (not counting LR Tanks.)
Plus it REALLY stirs up all \any bits in bottom of tank. and mixes ANY water in there. REALLY good till it reaches your fuel pump. Hrrrm What was that rattling.
But. Way I look at it. I'm travelling. This gets my arse off the seat and legs stretched for a while. What's the rush.
Missus boils kettle in van. pull to one side of servo and have smoko. You made.
Step down clear or reinforced hose of differing dia, with a bit of Sika and Jubilee round it will do. Simple enuff.
PLUS. My PAtrol and D-Max.
both took\take Hiflo nozzles. Never had the problem to think about. Sorry.

The problem is that sometimes the only pump available has the hi-flow nozzle and the vehicle's filler pipe is too small.

Gday...
Good to see you take the time to relax after refilling the rig ... relaxation and rest is a good thing when travelling.

OK John.
Firstly my 3 tugs I've used for towing in this country. (After the cars and boats). have ALL taken high flow. so the "problem" wan't even known to me Sorry.
No 2. I was just agreeing with him as I looked at his photo. Simple. I never even knew what they were talking about till I saw the Photo and the step down clicked.
3. They must have changed the Inlets on later model D-Max. 3 of us travel around. None of us have a problem. so it has never even entered out minds that such a thing existed.
And not knowing such. Only reason would be to "jam it in quicker", yes. SOME people are always in a rush.
We all live and learn hey.
PS. The only place I've ever been to with HiFlow only. Has been the "truck" section on some larger servo's. Usually off to one side. All combined customer points have always had either small, or a combination of, One on each side of pump?. I've NEVER seen a car (Normal oil supplier) servo with ONLY big nozzles. Have you??. They'd lose too much custom from todays travellers.
I thought the small lines and tips were to stop people splashing it everywhere with the volume from bug nozzles. now all these little economy cars are going diesel.

Now ya on the ball Macka
Ya dead right
And when ya pull into a busy servo, or the servo only has one diesel pump, with a hi-flow on one side and a small one on the other side, and the small one is already being used, at least if ya vehicle can take the hi-flow one ya can get on wif the job.
However, if not, then ya gotta wait for the small nozzle hose to finish filling, wait for them to go and pay, wait for the operator to re-set the pump and then ya can go.
No probs ... and that line of vehicles behind ya have just burnt the hair off the back of ya melon with their heated, ,focused stares.
Even worse, if ya caravan is attached to ya vehicle and ya blocking off four others pumps.
SOLUTION - if ya vehicle won't cope with hi-flow nozzle, then get an adaptor. If ya can't make one, then buy one. Then ya got the option.
Cheers - John
PS - praps ya should consider re-reading ya posts before ya hit "submit" ... make sure what you WANT to say is what it does say It sure gets confusing fer the rest of us.

Just as a little ifo to all.
This thread has nothing to do with flow rate of diesel fuel. Hendo noticed a comment I made in another post about the fuel inlet opening on my Collie only being suitable for 'loflo' diesel pumps. I had been caught out 3 times with only hiflo pumps in the car area of 3 different servos not long after getting the Collie and I was low on fuel each time.
I now start looking for fuel around 1/2 full.
I also made up the reducer so if I am faced with the hiflo pumps only again I have a way around it.
I have used it a few times now but only in the truck areas if servo for whatever reason and no problems with the way I made it up. I did look around for a 'bought one' without luck.
I must say here, I have not come across the problem for about 12 months now and have noticed a hiflo one end of the bowser and loflo the other, maybe the problem was realised and sorted out.
It works for me.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Yea John.
Could also be that I don't go near large city's on much on main drags.
Haven't been near a big, busy servo for yonk.s
But.
If I did. and end up on a pump I can't use and have to wait.
I just do so.
Anybody want to get knickers in twist. go for it buddy.
Have a go at the servo. NOT me. Or go to another pump.
I'm VERY patient. To a Point.
We just use what they supply.
Would only be a coupla min's anyway.
Anybody that impatient. HAS got a problem.
That's where the road rages come into play.
Although.
Must admit. IF I did have a small inlet orifice?.
I probably would Make one up hey.
Just to keep you happy. Yess.

If you hunt through the rubber hoses section of an auto parts store you're bound to find a ready made hose and being rubber it most likely won't be affected by the diesel fuel.

I've driven all models but never had issues getting hi flow nozzle in . Why I thought it was the breather as when I filled . Too fast the air couldn't come back out the filler quick enough . It seems on this particular model there's a smaller orifice on filler tube .
