I was in Collinsville earlier this week and noticed that there is quite an extensive upgrade happening at the moment.
After noticing the construction I got talking to a girl in the Workers club opposite the new site and she was telling me that they are building a new shower and toilet block as well. Apparently people used to use the facilities at the local youth club which at times was inconvenient or not suitable.
The construction appeared to be quite extensive and it is in an area that is on the other side of the showground than where people currently stay.
Tried to attach more photos but cant get them up at this stage for some reason But it appears a well laid out area with covered outdoor seating etc.
I should add that while I was there I had a good lunch at the Workers Club immediately opposite and for those that have not been there,
There is a great mining museum on the top floor of the Workers Club....very informative to those who may be interested.

Gday...
I wonder if the Whitsunday Regional Council actually understands what "self-contained" actually means.

I never looked at it that way RL.
It may mean fully self contained toilet waste only?? It certainly is confusing.

We stayed at Collinsville showground for a couple of days about 2 years ago.
Very pleasant little town. the Workers club is great.
We certainly gave the grass a drink too.

They have a common sense take on self contained (ie. must have own toilet/shower) unlike what is promoted by a certain club.
