Wow, only recently joined and after exploring this site I feel like I have hit the all time mother-lode of good advice and nomadic camaraderie :)
Have been dreaming of doing some wandering for several years now and never quite got started. Now about to buy my very first high top camper and plan a few trips.
I dare say I will have plenty of questions for you in the coming months!
Meanwhile, wishing you all safe and happy travels.

Welcome to the gang DD, enjoy here and out in the playground.
Yep, a great place this and I tell you that for free. "Questions" ask away. You will get all sorts of replies so just sift through them and you more than likely will get your answer.
Now, stop that "Dreamming" and get out here.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

A warm welcome from me also, DeltaDawn
As Dougwe has already said, ask as many questions as you want
I hope that you have many happy road trips, when you have got hold of your high top camper

DD - your site name has me singing - "Delta Dawn, what's that flower you have on........."
WElcome to the site - and especially the forum - we have many members who don't bother to investigate the whole site, and fail to find our forum - as with all forums we have good days and bad days - someone disagrees with a post - and it starts - fun to watch, and sometimes join in, but Cindy our Webmaster keeps a keen eye on the forum and closes if the post is getting a bit narky.
Ask questions, answer posts, discover new things - all on here - the site has grown over the 7 or so years I have been on, and is a valuable asset for travellers.

Haha, yes sorry about that Jules .... I'm thinking I should maybe change my nickname as the song now just pops into my head and starts playing over and over !
Always nice to find a well moderated forum ... I imagine it's quite the job at times, but as you say it is a valuable asset to us nomads (see how I presume to include myself as a nomad now? Even though I have yet to break in my training wheels?).
Anyways, thanks for the welcome and the heads up :)

Hi DD - I'm singing it now - unfortunately only know those few words.
This is a well moderated forum - not too many Chiefs, unlike some forums where they red line you often. Cindy is a lovely lady as well, she started the forum, and there is a book available about Grey Nomadding, which may have started the ball rolling.
Depending of the state you are in, there are sometimes meet ups, a great place to meet other members, and explore some new country - we are heading to one in WA at the end of September this year, have been to the same place twice before - great people, had a ball. There is the Get Together section further down the forum page, if you see someone is in your area, get in touch through the personal message section on here, and meet up for a cuppa.
Stay sane and stay safe

Thanks Jules, I will definitely check out the Get Together section.
Friends keep asking me where I plan to go first and it's so hard to choose ... having a meetup destination to head towards could be just the thing. If I end up in WA we may even say hello in person!
Grey Nomadding book sounds interesting ... perhaps somebody has a used copy that they would like to sell?
Not sure about sanity, but safe works for me :)
Happy Travels

Now DD - don't take too much notice of Woody up there - I think he is upset coz I know lots of good camps - some free, some not - one of my faves is in northern NSW, little town with a great history - not far from Murwillumbah, contrary to some's belief, I go there for the history, not the crops they grow there
No poetry section as such, but the I Digress section is open to anything - all sorts of things pop up there, including poetry and songs.

and did I hear you say you were meeting jules47 here today,
to take you to that free camp ground up the road.
he's sixty five , grey and he wants DOUGWE , to drive him round Australia ,
all the GNs at happy hour think he's crazy ,
cause he walks around town with a camp chair in his hand ,
Lookng for that mysterious high ace van ,
in his younger days he was called a working man ,
tha hardest worker you ever laid two eyes on,
then a van with a roll out a awaning appeared on the roadside ,
and promised it would take him for a ride ,
Delta Dawn whats that smile you have on,
could it be a high ace van from days gone by ,
and did I hear you say, you was a pickin her up today,
to take you to that free camp thats lakeside .
Woody
Delta Dawn what's that flower you have on? Could it be a faded rose from days gone by? And did I hear you say he was ameetin' you here today To take you to his mansion in the sky She's forty one and her daddy still calls her baby All the folks around Brownsville say she's crazy 'Cause she walks downtown with a suitcase in her hand Lookin' for a mysterious dark-haired man In her younger days they called her Delta Dawn Prettiest woman you ever laid eyes on Then a man of low degree stood by her side And promised her he'd take her for his bride Delta Dawn what's that flower you have on? Could it be a faded rose from days gone by? And did I hear you say he was ameetin' you here today To take you to his mansion in the sky

Hi Jewel, sorry for the tardy reply (and for the song lol!), I've been out on the road and having a bit of a break from the internet ... except for google maps and Wiki Camps of course :)
The 'skirt' is attached with big press studs ... I haven't actually used it yet, but if I stay in one place long enough to roll the awning out it will definitely be a good breeze stopper.
