hi members and fellow travellers,we are planning next year to follow the longest shortcut starting at Winton to Alice staying there for a while the continuing over to Perth,we have a small dog and a 24 foot off road van. Has anyone done itand any experiences or advice will be gratefully accepted

As well as the Helpful replies you will get on here, try the "Search" in the Blue ribbon up in the top of the page. Type in GCR, or Great Central Road, or Outbackway, There is lots of past Questions and Replies about the GCR on this forum. Some one asked this just last week I think.
It Is a great trip, take your time, get your permits online or in Alice at the appropriate office
P.S. going East to West Just show your Permit at the Uluru NP entry gate you don't have to pay to go through. Coming West to East you don't have to stop at the Kiosk. Make sure you see the Rock.
