Gday...
Larry, the problem is that one has no idea of just what to expect when clicking on a link that gives no explanation (or a cryptic comment) to why it is pertinent or informative for the intended audience - eg old pharts on forums.
It is a valid concern that the link may have an 'unwanted intruder' contained within the link.
This can apply to videos and in some occasions photos/pics.
...... and to save you having to reply .... I know I know I know I know ---- if ya worried, just don't open them.
It just means that for many - even though there may be 100s of "views" of the post ... I doubt many actually open the link you include so the 'point' of the post (if it had one) is somewhat wasted.
Cheers - John

So to keep you all cosy and safe should this Forum have a mandatory 'No Link' policy?....is that your point?.........happy to oblige....
I don't have to post,......I have mates from here and U.S. that send me stuff that they believe will interest/entertain me....and they generally do, and I thought wrongly perhaps they may interest others on this Forum?.....have never received anything computer malicious to date.....have never even been held to computer ransom.....seems to happen at the moment to the most vigilant....
It never takes long for any 'active' poster here to receive criticism...always for the good of 'others'.....it's why my mate HeyJim and others I know, departed...

Gday...
Why is it that when some commentary is offered attempting to explain why not all people have the same opinion, or react to things in differing ways the hackles of some go up.
I also wonder what the definition of 'active poster' is.
People come and go from all groups for their own reasons and in their own timeframes. Like so much in life - it's choice .... freedom of choice.
Surely, my comments were not so obtuse for you to completely miss the intention.
A member made a comment about their concern about just what some links may contain, which prompted a dismissive response ... I made the mistake it seems to provide some background explanation on why some people feel apprehensive about links etc. and that that apprehension is oft well-founded.
If my explanation is viewed as "criticism" then I apologise ... it was not my intention I can assure you ... just another poster who was attempting to give some clarity to another, apparently, misunderstood comment.
The nature of a forum is that varying and various opinions and beliefs will be shared ... one cannot ever be mindful in advance whether some people be thin skinned (sensitive to advice or hints; easily upset or affected).
Can you please advise if these are not opening up for you and I will remove......Hoo Roo
