We are thinking of replacing our old type choofer and was wondering how to search for a second hand one. Not only on this forum, but also on Gumtree.
I have seen a Kingaroy Choofer but they are around $250 brand new.
Any ideas???

Please tell this old dumby what is a Choofer? A steam Train or a Heater, or a bossy Wife?

Why would you want to buy an old petrol burning stove? That is what you want to buy, like the army used to use? Unless I have got the wrong thing on my mind, the choofer was a a thing of convenience for the army and should never be allowed in Public Hands! Sorry if I am wrong, the only other thing I can think of is Kerosene stove that required the kerosene to be vaporised prior to burning like the old blow torch. Like Aussie, a bit old! Sorry if I have it wrong.

JayDee, you are not very forthcoming regarding your location. If it was a little more specific I would know whether I could assist you. There are a few mens sheds that dabble in them.

Logan City Queensland on his profile, wish we could put it in with the information under our names when we post. This would help a lot of people. Logan city between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

A "Choofa" is what I call a gas bottle stove - I wasn't sure if you meant a "Smudge Pot" which I really should make one day :)
$250 is not a bad price for one - there is a fair bit of work goes into turning a gas bottle into a stove and at that price the hourly rate will not be high.
Unless you can find a secondhand one (unlikely) it's spend $250 or do it yourself.

We have an Ozpig, it's fantastic! There are lots of inferior imitations getting around.

You can easily turn any 20 litre round metal drum into a choofa if you punch in some air holes down low, but this one from Bunnings is an easy option.
A couple of bars across the top for a pot and you have a good little outfit. And under $30-00.
