If you are presently touring in Tasmania then there is every likelihood that you may come across Road Closures due to the running of Targa Tasmania. I am competing in Targa in Car #726 which is a black Mazda RX-7...
The event started today (April 24) and will continue until Saturday April 29 when the presentation ceremony is on Princess Wharf in Hobart. I have seen lots and lots of RVs and Caravans by the roadside today with everyone giving us a wave. If you happen to come across the event and see 726 then give us a wave and if we are stopped then come on over for a chat.
It may come as a shock but not all of us Tasmanians are overjoyed with Targa & its entourage of hoons but I wish you safe travels.

I don't even like it here locally when they close roads for pushbike rides!
But then, I am just a grumpy old Sod!

Expect you to be parked outside our place waiting to start the Tinderbox section.
Will try and find you to say hi.
Not all Tasmanians are hoons, grumpy and anti everything.
Have a good rally, safe competing. Remember, out of the special sections you are just another welcom tourist obeying the road rules.
Cheers

It would never do if we were all the same and each of us are different in our outlooks and interests...
Tinderbox is a great location - I bet the suburb name gives insurance companies nightmares - hope to see you...

My brother lives in Tasmania, the road past his place is a winding mountain road, and is part of the Targo course.
I was in Tassie a couple of months ago and their were idiots in sports cars speeding past my brother`s place." practice runs"
We were told that people from the main land fly over, hire cars for a practice run.
It is about time the police put the brakes on these idiots.
It would have not been great to come across these idiots when towing a 20 Ft caravan.
The road is past the Preston water falls, where a lot of grey nomads pull up to view the falls.

Well Targa is over for another year.
Great event, great people, great roads...
Not quite as good this year as last when we came 2nd - we had to be content with 16th after gearbox gremlins and the slippery weather conditions worked against us...
Now back to being a New Grey Nomad, starting in Hobart...

Yes David, gearboxes really are complex things these days, especially when I am in the vicinity .
Enjoyed my race but now I will enjoy a couple of weeks in Tasmania (until May 18)
Greetings Fellow Travellers
