I was reading the lastest cmca mag and they had a story about the free camp at Ingham now open and booking can be made via CMCA no cash payment $3 a person a night must be self contained, I wonder does this mean that these camps are CMCA members only.

Its not realy free though at $3 per head per night. Good price though anyway.

CMCA RV Parks provide low-cost, no-frills accommodation for CMCA members whose vehicles meet the requirements of the CMCA Self Contained Vehicle (SCV) Policy. In response to the growing need for basic accommodation for self-contained vehicles that can generate their own energy needs, CMCA RV Parks provide access to a secure place to park, potable water and dump points to offload black and grey water. CMCA RV Parks are a managed accommodation facility with fully trained volunteer custodians who live on site to oversee the day-to-day activities and to implement park rules.

Yes when this open it was a free camp for all , You check in at the information centre and was free and open to all self contained RV . CMCA must have done a deal now only their can use it . If your have a caravan you are not able to be a member of CMCA the last time I knew , This move by CMCA could be a game changer for all us caravan owner , Maybe Green Lakes next .

Brickies, you can be a CMCA member with a caravan - think it is Associate Member - but most of the privileges, including the RV Camps they run.
I don't think Greens Lake will ever be taken over by CMCA -or be charged - it is too big an area to manage that way.

Never was a free camp for all, never. No deals done, either, ever. The CMCA park at Ingham is for self contained CMCA members. Development application all done above board through council. Just one of the member benefits CMCA members can access. The rest of what you write is incorrect as well. Speculating about Green Lakes is quite silly.

I am a CMCA member with a caravan and I am an associate member.
I don't get voting rights at the AGM but that's about all.

I hope that this doesn't degenerate into another CMCA bashing exercise.
They do have the right to spend their members' money any way they like, for the benefit of the members.
It's just a pity that they persist with the Associate Members thing but I suppose that that's an understandable function of their origins. Perhaps a bit like Golfing Associates.
If you don't like it either join or ignore.

To clarify. Behind the information centre in Ingham, on the western side of the highway as of last year, is a council run rv self contained park. Cost is $10 per vehicle. You book and pay at the information centre. The CMCA park is on the eastern side of the highway adjacent to but separate from the council run camp. This may have changed since we used it last year. Hope this helps. Cheers phil

There are two camps in Ingham - the one near the info centre is nothing to do with CMCA - it has been there for several years and has a $10 fee payable at the info centre and is for fully self contained vehicles and is policed due to the closeness of the site to the TYTO Wetlands. The CMCA have a park across the highway from the info centre which is $3 per person per night for adults in fully self contained rigs but is for CMCA members only as a member benefit.
The CMCA RV Park will reopen after the wet season closure on 24 April.
