What did our parents do to prevent boredom before the internet? I had no idea so I asked my 16 brothers and sisters and they didn't know either.

Plenty of boring crap on the internet these days, we enjoy listening to ABC Radio.

Fishing, birdwatching, watching lightning storms, walking on stormy beaches on a wintery day, looking for native orchids, cooking good food, eating good food, drinking wine, enjoying a cheese platter, watching the embers on the dying fire, glass of port with or without blue vein cheese, watching a good black and white movie, catching yabbies while talking about how to cook them, drives on scenic bush tracks and I am sure you can come up another two and use some imagination to come up with reasons why these would lead to a baby a turn! It is a wonder there were not more in that rabbit warren of yours!

The use of the internet in Australia didn't really get going until the mid 90s so instead of asking your parents ask anyone who is over 35 what people did to prevent boredom. To tell you the truth I didn't hang around waiting for someone to come up with an internet to finally get a life - there were plenty of other far more interesting things to do with your time. You could probably ask your parents or grandparents what they did before TV but the answer would probably be the same.

Hey John thanks for straightening us out but I think most people actually realised that the OP was a joke. The post prompted comments on what we were doing before this so called internet revolution happened. I guess if you want to stop people straying away from the joke itself you could always put it into the right area of the forum i.e. "Just Joking". I believe that "I digress" was set up as a way of promoting friendly off topic chats so maybe you should go back to the headers and reread the intention of each area - you shouldn't automatically assume that people are a little bit slower on the uptake than yourself..
Cheers

It was even worse before we had TV, we had to just sit there staring into a blank corner of the lounge room :(
And after we got it a bloke with a clipboard knocked at the door and asked what my opinion was regarding sex on the television... naturally I replied that it was far too cramped and I preferred the dining room table.

What did I do? When young, played outside until called to come in for tea (dinner). Then family time.
Edit....should have added, even when my kids were young they played outside then family time inside, including a bit of TV but not much.

Did anyone notice that almost every home built in the 70's & 80's had mirrors on the built in wardrobes. It sure beat watching TV.

Desert Dweller, that is almost a Fatal Attraction! Do you also know about the bowl on the coffee table for the house keys?

Thanks Rocky for the explanation, I (wrongly) assumed that it would be perceived as rhetorical however, I will concede that the Just Joking forum would have been the better option.

I had a 14ft 6 in wall on one side of my bedroom.
equated to 4 x floor th ceiling sliding mirror doors.
Gun cupboard\Safe behind L\H door,
clothing the rest.
Does the world of good to your sex life let me tell you.
BOTH of you.
You'd be amazed the contortionists tricks you can do
in your 30's\40's.
. 50's you slow down a bit.
Not so flexible. But still interesting.
Best thing I ever put in our house.
They probably still there.
