Wife was at the shopping center yesterday, came out to find someone had kicked a big dent in the drivers door. Foot print looked like it was still there. Now I have to go through the insurance business and the trouble of getting it repaired. I also have to pay out the excess, as there is nobody else to claim from.

You might get a no blame claim that doesn't attract an excess.
Did you find out if there were any cameras there
Just a thought
Maybe it will help you
Good luck John

Sorry to hear about that Ian
I doubt if the person who kicked the door, would have any cash, to pay for any damage they do
Those sort of people have usually earmarked their future earnings/dole payments, for booze/drugs/etc

Hopefully the same thing happens to the perpetrators head one day!

really extreme behavior Ian - so far all I get is the dickheads who open their doors into your side panels and leave lots of dents, or worse have it against your door panel, get into their own car and then move around which leave a bigger rub dent in the panel.
Its got so bad in the shopping centre carparks with the spaces made just wide enough for a Getz, that I park in the far corner furtherest away from the shops to avoid being beside other vehicles.
Even though I have a DMAX ute, I stay away from the Patrols and Cruisers and old scruffy cars - park alongside the new Mercs or BMWs and hope the young rich Mums will take some care lol

We find young mothers loading their shopping & kids into their vehicle the worst offenders for making dents & scratches on the adjacent vehicle in shopping centre carparks.

Recently I noticed a young woman in the local shopping centre car park who had her car reversed into a parking space. There was a new car parked directly behind her so she decided to use it's bonnet as a shelf for her bags while she opened her own beat up old SUV's rear door. I had a go at her but she just said F.....off and to mind my own business before driving away, I got her number plate but when I checked out the bonnet I couldn't see any damage so I didn't bother leaving the owner a note.

Yummi Mummie have designated car parks, unfortunately, other lazy shoppers use their spots.
