Totally agree with both the policy and the responses - however we just need to be careful that the thought police don't get hold of it and we go from one extreme to the other. Imagine if it became like 18C where anything that was thought to be insulting or offensive to a person or group would become illegal. I would hate to be pulled over because I had a souvenir sticker showing a girl in a bikini or if I was of a certain religion and happened to be driving around with one of those fish stickers on my car. Probably a little bit far fetched I know but nothing surprises me these days with all this political correctness that is going on.

I have to agree with the Bear, who determines the level of rudeness? Which scale do they use to make that determination? Way too many holes in that for my liking. Im not a lover of political correctness but does anyone else feel our ability to speak freely is being eroded? I have seen a number of these wicked campers and they are, in some cases offensive, especially when the grandkids are in the car.
I only have places I have been and funny stickers on my caravan back. Gives other road users something to read while they wait to overtake me..
Have a great day

They were told to ''tone it down a bit'' a few years ago. Some of them were a little too ''in your face''.

I wonder if the people hiring the van feel wrong about the slogans. I certainly wouldn't want negative attention if I was holidaying in a foreign country.

About a year or so ago, a Park Manager in Exmouth didn't like what was written on a Wicked hire car, so he took to it during the night with a can of spray paint, and it made the West Australian paper.

I too have seen drawings and slogans on these wizbangs that I find offensive and have said so to people who had hired them, their comment "they cost less than the others" I think the business and moral principals of the company who hire these vehicles leaves a lot to be desired.

I think the slogans are meant to appeal to the younger generation - backpackers and Aussies alike - though there was a couple a few years back of "our age bracket" who hired one, because they couldn't get anything else at the last minute - they had a ball travelling in it - lots of people spoke to them about the van, and had a good laugh with them.
I reckon there is a lot of things more important to worry about

Strange how attitudes change as people age. As people of the '60/70's we protested, shocked (blokes with long hair, earrings etc). Now so many appear to be offended and worry about their grandchildren. Some of the older people are turning into the wowsers they so despised when they were young.

Agreed rgren2. I suppose if is inciting or encouraging the acceptance of rape and assault or the like then a line is crossed. I still have long hair, albeit grey, and get the occasional snarky remark but as a dedicated articulate smartarse I enjoy those little moments.

Our daughter lives in Kensington & every time we visit her we go past the Melbourne WICKED CAMPER depot. So many slogans.

I don't like the camper van writing:
"Nice legs, what time do they open"
is crass and should be kept in the gutter where it belongs.
The sign which *REALLY* got to me and I would have happily bought spray paint and defaced had I been able to reach it was the "FCUK" massive banner which hung on a building adjacent to a major Melbourne inner city freeway for some years. Is that how we wish to present out city and ourselves? As people whose intellect does not rise above trying to shock through a deliberately mangled swear word? Pathetic.

Different horse, different language. This is international.
It was a contrived abbreviation which did not represent the company name and done simply in order to produce a logo which was akin to the most significant swear word in the English language.

Exactly.
If all you have to worry about is Wicked camper vans and a few common swear words your life is going OK.

I remember seeing a sign on the back of a privately owned Toyota Coaster which read "If you think this is going slowly, just wait until we start going up a hill", I thought that was hilarious.
In relation to the Wicked campers, I couldn't care less. Most are pretty funny. I think you will find that your little darlings are listening to a higher level of crude and crass comments from their peers when they are attending school.

The trouble is some old codgers just can't do what's in the slogans anymore . Ahaha Should be lucky they can still remember and be able to read it !! Lol
TAS has now joined QLD, NT, and the ACT, to ban rude slogans on vehicles
Basically any vehicle with rude slogans can be de-registered, if it was registered in that state
Below is the newspaper article link

We would hope so.
