Pity the media portrayed Adam as such a single focus. Thank you for your insight. Probably why he was an Australian of the year recipient.

It takes a lot of courage to have a teenage girl kicked out of a Football Ground. Just my sentiments, others might disagree, who knows?

To humiliate a young girl in front of a stadium filled with people was a low act.

Excellent choice as Australian of the Year. Such dignity in the face of stupid hatred.

A terrible choice - divisive and with a huge chip on his shoulder.
He, David Morrison and Rosie Batty should have gotten on well, they all have very similar socio-political views indeed views which now seem a prerequisite for this dubious honour.

I used to like watching Adam Goodes playing football because he was pretty good at it, I have no idea what sort of personality he had on the field, in the change rooms or away from the game as my only real interest was in watching the AFL. Personally I think that the incident with the young girl was pretty ordinary behaviour on both sides of the fence and it wasn't helped by later being turned into a media circus. Congratulations to all those recipients of Australian Of The Year awards but for me it probably ranks a 1 out of 10 on the level of interest scale along with all the other titles that they seem to so willingly handout these days.

I assume you are all white man or woman like me. Even some white people find it difficult to grasp some things in life. But the indigenous have had 9 generations only with most of those under direct control of the white man. So, put yourself in his position, being called an ape by that girl. Oh, sorry, he should have taken the time to stop the game (he held the ball) and ask her age...silly me.
It could have been handled better by others eg her grandmother should have gone with her. But as for Adam, I think had had every right to report it.
He is mature and a great example of a leader in his community.
Maybe I'm better at walking in his shoes?

Eaglemax, to tell you the truth I don't know whether the game was stopped or what happened at the time of the incident all I remember is all the media hype that followed it. I am not a big follower of AFL although I will watch the Swans now and then and I saw Adam Goodes cop a pretty hard time from the opposing supporters in following matches. Up until now the discussion as I saw it was not so much about race but the way in which a high profile sports person dealt with comments from the crowd. For your own protection I suggest that you don't attend a rugby league match......

I'm fine with my comment, quite relaxed.
"Race card"...more like reason "he reacted card". But with comment like "dont like the man" without any reason given I wonder if I struck the real reason you Santa indeed dont like him.
Racism alive and well in the older generation maybe?. Most people dont know his silent achievements that would show you up.
Pull the thread.
Back to the footy. :)

Santa, for me it is a broad minded interesting conversation, and I reckon about 50 /50 in the opinion stakes. Let's face it, most of us are oldish Aussies, and if anybody is offended by our oldish sense of humour, there is no hope for any of us. HIC, HIC. Aussie.
OK, I have closed the beer fridge, put away the Wine Cask and promised my darling, I will be a new little boy to-morrow.,Nigh,Nigh, Nigh, Nigh, nigh, nigh.
