I'm an amateur gold prospector and I believe there are a few others on here too.

I suppose I could say yes. I carry a minlab detector but mostly look for relics.

My Wife also has a detector, She's very quick to detect any coins left in the wash !! LOL
But seriously, we did some fossicking while on our trip through QLD a few years back, found a hand full of Gem stones while in Rubyvale, not worth having them cut, as most were too small, just kept them as souvenirs of our trip.

Sorry Doug, old fossils aren't worth much these days.

I should imagine 'young' fossils are more scarce than 'old' fossils....how long does it take to make a fossil anyways?......Hoo Roo

Is there a reason this question was asked?

Give a bottle of red to an old fossil ( especially one camped ar Greens ) and just watch how quick it will go off, LOL

Yes, the reason why I asked was that when I sell my house and hit the road I was hoping there were other like minds to meet up with. Safety in numbers. I love panning and want to detect also but doing it solo seems a bit scary.
Depends what you mean by fossicker?
