Hey, all you solo travelers. I checked into a caravan camp today. I'm just starting my trip as a solo female traveler. I felt very comfortable at the other caravan camps, but this one....I'm not so sure. I'm surrounded by just guys, no families....feeling kind of edgy....do you think it's all in my mind?

Hi Pam, glad to see that you finally made it here and have started your trip, if you are staying in a caravan park you should be OK - all joking aside just take the same precautions that you would if you were back in the states travelling alone (minus the gun of course we don't allow them down here). Are you staying in a mining area or is it just a coincidence that so many unaccompanied men have surrounded you ?

Thanks for all the laughs and encouragement. I made it through the night unscathed. I have love men, truly I do! Just felt a bit out numbered, I guess! Ha!
But your country is wonderful. I've been here 10 days and, aside from being nervous driving in traffic on the opposite side of the road, last night was the first time I was uncomfortable. Everyone has been kind and helpful. Time to hit the road!

Normally a few blokes around give better security particularly the "Old-fart"type.
I posted this a couple of weeks ago; Men's clothing and boots outside van an absolute must. Man's old hat with fishhooks in band on dash of tug. Nothing attractive to ferals on display in tug.
Always, repeat always have a can of Raid Wasp Killer next to door - will stop any intruder/s man or beast in their tracks. It can be used at a safe distance (7 meters). www.raid.com/en-us/products/raid-wasp-and-hornet-killer-33 look at solutions video.
Don't be forgetful and leave tool or any equipment outside that may be attractive to ferals, or be used as a weapon against you.

You have to be careful of course but really, you are safe camping in the bush then you would be walking in the streets of Melbourne. Is the 4thlady still traveling our beautiful country?

Unfortunately.
There are too many inbred wiedo's in this country now.
and straight out animals.
I always recommend solo women. And blokes too.
To carry a cattle prod with them
There are hand held units around 4000v low amp.
Big boot no harm (long term)
Just kicks them back a yard or so.
Completely distracts whoever's mind from whatever it was thinking.
$40\45 del.
Also long shaft (varying sizes)
they better...15000v with low amps.
Animal not human. Around $65\80 del.
Way I look at it.
if a prick advances. Belt him with it first.
worry about anything else later.
Legal??.
"I had dogs go me last camp I was at.
Frightened me."
"These ARE for cattle. Dogs. Pigs.
Look. It says so here.."
Just enter "cattle prods" on Google or E-Bay and pick one.

Better than Tazers and Baseball bats.
Wasp Spray plus one of them.
You covered.
