Clean with Milton then flush several times - if any taste I have heard that Raspberry Cordial removes any taint taste.

The Red cordial trick works wonders. Just use the cheapest like Black & Gold brand, pour in a full 2lt bottle into an empty tank, fill the tank with water & leave it overnight. Then keep flushing it till the water is clear. I believe the Red cordial helps kill any bacteria in the tank.

It seems a waste of water but the good old Milton is the best. Two thirds fill your tank and a bottle of Milton.Take a drive to have it slosh around and empty. I only flush mine once more and find that there is no taint in the water. If it has been good enough to sterilise babies bottles Teats etc for the last fifty or so years it's good enough for me.

Milton or Straight Bleach. Same thing basically.
Then I always throw a coles sized small botle of lemon juice in the next tank.
Deflavours the water. Plus. I like lemon juice. and keep our drinking water separate.
Tank is washing only.
Drink is 20 ltr's in tray of cab. a coupla 750 drinking bottles in fridge all the time.
In This part time van.
Permanent van had 3 tanks. 2 x 90l for general use.
and 1 x 90 ltr Stainless (I made, Folded corners and welded.)
just for drinking, with filter under sink to own tap.

Good advice there.
We built our own van 2x40 litre tanks and installed a drain tap. As soon as we arrive home we empty them until the next trip.
