An abandoned aged care home located next door to a fire station in Canberra's north has been destroyed in a blaze.
The two-storey building, next door to Belconnen Fire Station, was well alight when crews arrived shortly after 10:30pm on Tuesday.
Acting head of ACT Fire and Rescue Phil Canham said the building used to be an aged care home.
"It was burning quite well once we were notified of the fact," he said.
They must be sound sleepers in Canberra !!!

Well, I guess that proves you people do sleep soundly in the "Big smoke," LOL
Even after all these years, since leaving the Fire Brigade, the first whiff of any smoke and I am out of bed like a rocket.
it's funny how one gets tuned to danger.

Yep, can usually smell smoke. Just that I've turned off. The police, fire brigade and ambulance put their sirens on everytime they go through the lights
