All valid replies...does anyone else tend to do what find myself doing, namely, at whatever age I've been up to now, I compare what my now departed parents and grandparents were like at the same age....I visualise what they looked like..meaning how old they looked, and what they were doing at the time that interested them and more importantly how they related with our family/my brother and sister etc...and as Sonny and Cher sang....'the beat goes onnnnnnn'....Hoo Roo

Never thought i would b old. I guess every day above the ground is a bonus
Lol.....I don't mind being called 'Senior'....it comes with a 10% Discount......
Which reminds me of the old joke..
Just before the funeral services, the Undertaker came up to the very elderly widow and asked,
"How old was your husband?"...98, she replied...
"Two years older than me."
"So you're 96", the Undertaker commented..
She responded, "Hardly worth going home, is it?"......

I want at least ONE changeover, to get my moneys worth hey.

It's HOW you grow older. NOT the doing of.

Hi Larry,
I had to think for a moment, Make that a long time.
I was very young when my gran parents were alive on my fathers side. There were so many siblings, I being the youngest of 9, I only saw my grand father a few times before he pasted. My Nan was great on the Easter eggs from Darrell Lea with this yellow yoke fill.
I never new my mums parents at all. Not my mums fault whatsoever. I remember my mums home cooking , Sunday roasts. Family picnics with all the cousins. I lost her when I was just a kid. But I have her geans good and proper, Cause I can sure cook up a storm. Just the same as hers. She is in my heart every day.
My father well He did his own Golf thing with his mates. All I wanted in my life as a kid,was to go fishing/ camping with him. It never happened.
Slowly over with family time together, we have gathered many old photos and had them reproduced, and shared with family.
I met my sole mate and together we were blessed with our two. The four of us did the lot together. We took so many photo's our home is filled with them.
Then came Facebook. I to, am starting to feel my age.
We did and still do, so many family things together. Never forget the past. At Sixty I ride a motor bike again. Never stopped Camping/ Vaning Now/ Fishing is in my blood, And some more O/S travel.

Last week my wife and I came back from a trip up the north coast of NSW where we took time to visit a lot of the little places that we spent our misspent youth surfing, fishing, camping 40 odd years ago. Unfortunately a lot of the sleepy little fishing villages the coastal vegetation, even the sense of being alone had disappeared and had been replaced by housing estates, resorts, golf courses, shopping complexes etc. this was not only sad for us but probably made us realise that we came from an era that has now long gone.

The really good point about Old age is you don't have to go work ,you don't need as much money because you have not got many years to spend it see it's not too bad hope this has cheered you all up

I love talking about "the olden days" with my grandkids. I used exactly those words "olden days". Yipes the olden days have caught up with me and now I talk about NO TV, milk carts (with a horse), walking to school, 2 bob got you a sandwich and an icy pole etc.
As far as body and soul go. I have a 25 year old mind and attitude locked up in a 600 year old body.
Curse arthritis. Curse broken back, Curse creaky joints and leaky **** stuff. Curse taking 5 mins to get out of bed....
The good side... we now sit up and watch TV (colour, flat screen), drink good wine, chomp on savory stuff till 0100ish, sleep till oh who cares. Have our home on wheels anyplace we want and NO agenda or appointments (other than doctors) to keep. We cruise as often as we can, next one to Seattle in 2018, then by train to Canada.
Wouldnt be dead for quids.

Best thing I found about getting old is the amount of money I save by not buying marijuana. All I have to do is bend over and quickly stand up straight.
Same effects, no cost and you can do it as many times a day as you like.

Larry,
We have been retired 9 months. We are so tired and get so buggered too. How we ever fitted work in, still makes our minds spin. Our bodies are telling us to take a long holiday and go fishing in moderation Plus. IMO.
Do you know Duncan too.

I am not an old retiree, lost my soul partner last year, but I am finding getting older to becoming faster. Each day I look back at stuff around the house and want to part with it, it is a hinderance with wanting to get on the road. Lately, I look at it, a library of animal and bird books, collection of hand painted ceramic port bottles(still full), plates with hand painted bird pictures, wedgewood and other collectable stuff. I feel old because once they were worth something, now worth nothing!
I just need to get on the road.
