Really not much to check, maybe the suspension to see that it's not badly worn and the canvas is not mildewed, this can destroy canvas and indicates that it hasn't been looked after very well.
We use to own a very early one about 30 years ago and I wish we had never sold it, it's a great design, very simple to put up and take down not like many camper trailers that are out there now.
Cheers
David

Hi Glen thanks for the offer of a spacematic but just at the moment i am at the research stage and would like to know the ease of putting up, how solid they are, how they tow, any faults ,things like that the wife and i currently use an awning and awning tent and are thinking of a bit more space and comfort doing some longer trips in the near future any help welcome cheers Joffa

Hi Jofa, the cub is very easy to put up. They are gas strut assisted and controlled by a winch. Once the solid floor is lowered to the ground there are 2 support poles to put in place. They are very solid. They tow well but this is also dependent on you tow vehicle. With your bed up one end it leaves 10x7 of unencumbered available space. Our current one has an outside kitchen, which means that internally there is a fridge and cupboards.

We have had two and they are very easy to set up and maintain.
Lots of variations and length of drawbar etc.
Check the canvas and winch.
We replace 1" winch strap with a 2".
Recommend but the only hassle if you are travelling and moving every night, the weather and wet canvas can tire you.
