If I was ever going to start leaving my vans anywhere.
I'd be modifying the drawbar to a tilt unit. with through pins.
and electrical plugs.

and taking it with me.

Same with wheels. No wheels. No move. No Drawbar. The same.

Thieves are pretty tenacious nowadays. YOU need to be the same.

It's dead easy to link chains. Hook them over your hitch with hold down strap and drive off
with any van.

I leave My vans nowhere by themselves for more than a coupla hrs.
or a day, if in park.

Out in Bush. NEVER.

It's too easy just to break a window and strip it if nobody around.

Just have good insurance and take valuables with you.

just get good insurance, sometimes I think people make things look or try to make them look that theif proof that thieves start looking at them because there is something to steal here. I normally leave a few cheaper bits and pieces laying about that if inclined they are easy to steal, havnt even lost them yet

recently insured our tinny which sits on the front lawn, all be it temporarily, and insurance required a tow-ball lock or wheel clamp (went for the towball lock) We have a towball lock for the van and at times have also chained wheels together and removed one wheel. Non of these would deter a serious thief but hopefully the time taken to remove them all might deter them.
Would not be without insurance even though I get annoyed each time it comes up for re-newel.

Thanks everyone we do have insurance, and Vince I loved your pic. We have an off road caravan and purchased a Talon keyed lock for our towball and registered the key in our name - sounds like we have most things covered from what you are all saying.

We sometimes leave our caravan unattended in remote locations, its covered by insurance, but would hate to have to replaced it with the all items that I have added, would still have to add $ to the insurance cover. Have 2 items as below one for each side of our Tandem van ($97 for 2), the round plate covers the wheel nuts when not on the road wheels they are carried on the spares at the rear of the van. Also have a Towball lock and a 2G Tracker that needs replacing with a 3G.

If our van was straight out of the lot ( new van) with no mods, would just have the ball lock/insurance.

we have good insurance (with CIL) to cover us if our van gets stolen and they provide accommodation and return to home costs - like a few other RV specialists.

The problem with wheel clamps is the amount of size they take up and weight.

We use the tow ball lock with a high quality (not K Mart etc) padlock and never had problems

They'll slip it on a tilt tray if they're determined.
I'd leave my van out bush quicker than I'd ever leave it in a city or its suburbs. Unhooked my van in the last few days....off geocaching.....didn't give it another thought. Have a trailor cop.....haven't put it on since 2012....because like I say.......if they're gonna take it.....theyll get it on a tilt and it'll be goodnight Irene. Why I'd like to see thieves and bits of crap shot....which I was challenged about recently......cull scum....and we'll be back to breeding good people.....
But yeah....you'd be fine in the bush.....people still have morals in the bush. Cities suck....reap what you sow in those joints.

Save your money,have insurance. If they want to take the van they will. They just back up a flat top hook on and its gone inside 90 seconds,chains,padlocks wheel clamps and all before you are out of bed and out to the front door.
