Hello, I am looking for some advice: I want to take my caravan from the Macarthur area (south of Sydney) to the Orange/Parkes area. I don't think the Victoria Pass in the Blue Mountains is wise to drive???? Is the Bells Line of Road any better? But coming down into Lithgow is rather steep! My other option is to drive south first, to Goulburn, and then north via Crookwell, Tuena and Blayney. On the map this road looks like it has fewer steep parts. Is this true? I am very grateful for suggestions from folks who have done this route with caravans. Thanks a lot!

Hello Tigerchips & welcome to GN's.
I reckon Vic Pass IS Your Best option . Why not pedal up to Mt Vic . Put the kettle on have a cuppa for an hour.
Translated - Why not drive up to Mt Vic . Stop at the top for an hour . For your Brakes to cool after the braking so far.
When you are ready 1st or 2nd gear down the Pass , that way you will have reasonable braking all the way down.
I can drive from Newcastle to Mt Vic & straight down the Pass in 2nd & feather the brakes to the bottom & I am usually
up with the traffic , but Not trying to set records . Hence . Having that hour break will leave your brakes cool enough,
