Hi to all on this site it has been quite a while since i have commented on this site but things are starting to fall into place and the trip is well into the planning stage , but have just read an article in the nomad times where people of good repute amongst the nomads of hotels etc have free camping for the return of meals and the odd drink at their establishments , not looking for a total freeby and would be willing to pay for the showers etc at a reasonable cost ie $10.00 a night , will be fully retired on the 24 of Feb and will be heading of about mid April , looking to go up to Cook Town etc and come back inland so i was wondering if there is a list of these places as am not looking to find the usual resort type places , not looking to sponge either , so if you have any other ideas where one can look to locate these slightly remote places etc would be greatly appreciated , have camps seven and camps 8 on the recently purchased hn7 have to learn how to use it properly yet anyway happy new year to you all stay safe and enjoy regards widgeewoodduck

Mate there are sub forum on this forum where some people but to few post recommendation , Camp book and Wikicamps have listing to , A lot of the time you can hear about these type of camps from people on the road and tourist information centre and also can depend on the route you are on , The major highways and town don't have these sort of deals but they are out there .

Telling the members were you are planning to go will also help. We camped at the Carinda pub just south of Walgett, shower as well for having dinner and a couple of beers. Great night.

G'day,
There is a facebook page that has many members who contribute information and photos of pubs all over Aus.
The page is called "Country Pubs Welcoming Oz Nomad Camping"
Country Pubs welcoming Oz Nomad Camping. This is the name of a facebook page which anyone can add to or comment. Hope this helps.
Edit. Sorry I now see it's already mentioned. I was too busy memorising it from facebook to check other posts.

Grong Grong pub in NSW - free camping - $5 showers - very ordinary meal. Toompine - free power and showers at the hall next to the pub - basic meals

Example of "lowcost" camping.
B**** Pub, near Bundaberg $10.00 per vehicle per night, now power no water. (no need to mention names)
Two people, drinks in pub $12.00 per round (two rounds), dinner two people, around $18.00 - $20.00 each.
So, Accom, $10.00, Meal $40.00, drinks, $24.00.
Not exactly cheap
We paid $38.00 per night in caravan park in Bargara, and cooked our own meals drank our own cask wine......
Don't get me wrong, I like to support remote areas, but my bank balance tells me differently. Just an example to let you think about.

My problem also is......I can't really eat or drink what they offer. Which is horrible and I wish I could, because I hate cooking with a passion. I try to offer a bit of support but it's very hard. Maybe the only thing I could drink would be vodka and soda so aside from not liking it, I'm not paying whatever they ask for a shot of it.
I'll be coming up to one in the next week or so that has free if you buy two meals.....well for a solo I can't buy two anyways, and I can pretty much guarantee there's nothing on the menu I'm allowed to eat....so I'll have to strike the deal to pay which I don't mind - makes me feel better about not being able to eat or drink much in their establishment.

There's plenty of info and advice on camping areas etc.
but. If you after a shower and on truck routes.
MOST servo's with truck bays and parking out the back.
will have showers in the truckies ablutions. Mainly free.
Good feed and cleat to boot. gotta be a bonus.
Just don't park your rig in truck parking lots. SOME don't like it.
As you'll probably find out.
