Hello all ,maybe this question has been asked before ,but here goes .How do i stop dust from entering the van ,whilst moving along ,how do i pressurise the van to stop this .

we have a vent in the ceiling the same as we have a vent in our colorado canopy. Enjoy

Hello desertdweller. Some people live full time in their van N prefer it clean just like when they lived in a house full time. Just saying

You can get a Scupper Vent from a caravan supplies store, very successful at keeping the dust out.

Friend has a motorised unit in a rear upper cupboard that switches on when he plugs the van into his vehicle - pressurises the van while travelling.

Same as rocket we also have a manual pressuring vent in the front ceiling of the van that you open when travelling, ours is a Retreat Fraser so you will probably find that the Brampton will have the same set up.

I was interested in this as I am trying to solve the same problem.
Having Googled "Scupper vent" it appears to be a very simple hole with a spring loaded lid. If this faces the airflow (which I assume it does in order to pressurize the van)wouldn't it allow rain, insects, and dust from other vehicles to enter?

We travelled around 1200kms on dirt roads in October 2016 with very little dust ingress. We have tracked down where it came in and added a bit more sealer. Next trip should be dust free, hopefully

Scupper vents do work if installed correctly, no problems with insects(the odd one) but in the event of rain just close it. Re dust from other vehicles, when you see them approaching either slow right down or stop briefly until the dust settles or blows across, again I have found no real problems.
For the vent to work correctly you do need to get under your van and check "ALL" pipes, electrical and external vents are completely sealed, also do the same inside your van. Anywhere air can get in dust will also.

Just wondering, you are all talking about pressurizing, but also how about if the van is getting negative pressure in it. For instance, the rear of the van outside when moving would have a vacuum, if the kitchen is at the back, and there is an extractor fan exhausting at the back, that vent would also suck out air when on the move. Windows on the back just lifting open a bit, any hole or gap at the rear may cause a negative pressure in the van.

I put a paper cloth over gas vent .. Yes gas IS OFF .. Open top vent which faces forward . In motorhome I turn fan on . I find the red dust does clean up ok if you can get to it !! Mind you places you don't see doesn't matter ! Lol adds to insulation ., lol way of looking at it . Or it will keep you up at night !! lol have you looked inside 3 way fridge vents ?? (00) sheesh ..

You are onto it, when talking Scupper Vents, Pressurisation is mentioned incorrectly. All they really do is prevent the Negative Pressure forming in the van which will 'suck' the dust in.

First thing that needs to be done is track down where the dust is venting in from, fans and scuppers won't do much if there are too many leaks. External lights can allow dust in and if you have dust entering from around the fridge it shows that the fridge isn't fitted correctly, the rear of the fridge should be sealed from the van .
Cable runs and water lines which pass thru walls/floors should be checked and sealed, once all that is done it is surprising how little dust gets in, I have added a flap for the door vent which can be dropped down to stop a dusty stair well.............then add a scupper vent to roof if needed.
