hi all, just been told I need a Cpap, there are apparently 3 subsidized options, rezmed, Phillips and fisher and paykel. I am sure that they are all good, but has anyone got a comparison on 12 volt power consumption, thanks in advance.

I have a devilbiss autocube and its quiet, compact, 12/240v and fuss free. Ive had others that were too loud.
Mine has a heater i dont use. Think it draws less than 2amp, maybe 4 on start up. We have a 100 amp battery and 210W solar only. We run a cf18 fridge/freezer...no problems.

I have a Resmed machine use it in van while away no trouble with 12volt ,
Dont worry to much what machine you get as long as it does what you want , worry more about the mask , a mask not fitting right means no sleep

I have a Resmed , I take it in the van , but I mainly use powered sites.
I take it on long haul flights too & let Flight Att know if anybody has a problem with my snoring,
I will plug in , as I am not a normal snorer . Mine IS Atrocious sound effects . I taped myself.
That's why I had my 1st "sleep study". I went from mild , to Severely Chronic in 6yrs.
Yep . I plug in Every night . I use nasal inserts , masks are too funny for me.

Wife has had a cpap for 5 years in motorhome. My investigations and tests found the resmed was the lowest power user. We use via an inverter which uses less power than the 12 volt option. You would need an inverter that is efficient on low usage. Ours is a 1500w mastervolt.

My husband uses a ResMed machine. It is possible to buy a ResMed converter that allows you to use 12v. When we go away in the Vista RV Crossover he uses it and when we are in free camps when in the van. It makes very little difference to the power we have left in the batteries in the morning. The batteries are also running the fridge in the Vista, the lights and the TV. In the van it is just lights, TV and his machine. No problems there.
Initially we bought an inverter for him to use but now alway use the converter.

Power usage depends on whether you use the humidifier and heated hose. I began running mine from a 300 watt inverter. The inverter fan would run if I used the humidifier, so I ordered the 12 volt lead from the USA when I was getting more cpap gear. Cpap gear is much cheaper from the US.

Bruce uses a humidifier all of the time with the heated hose. And isn't it stupid that it is cheaper in the US as it is an Australian company, but then the inventor was poached.
