I purchased a Vast Satellite system about a year ago and have used it a number of times. I have registered it as a traveler however most of the time when I set it up it finds the channels but I can not view them unless i do a rehit. So far I have always had coverage to be able to do this but with remote travel planned for after Easter i may not be able to do rehits. Is it normal to need to send for a rehit or have i missed something or doing something incorrect

G'Day Vern,
The "licence" is for 6 months at a time, then you have to ring up and re register for the next 6. You need to be using it regularly as well or you will have to do the rehit to get the channels again.

G'day VernLeanne
The main reason for having to do a rehit is due to the security codes sent via satellite to your box to enble it to decode the signal. The box requires this code approximately every 24 hours or so and when the box is not setup and powered up it falls back to Not enabled.
You will find that if your registration is current then setting up and powering the box up and leaving it in standby for up to a couple of hours it will get the code and come good.
I often have this issue with mine when I don't use it for a few days. It often comes good within a half to an hour.
hope that helps
Frank

Hi all;
For this reason alone is the reason why i have a second hand dish on the roof of my house and connected to my vast box while at home. I used a old second hand foxtel dish & LNB. Never had a problem at home and like others have said, 6 month reg. IF i have had a problem once set up ( has happened ) I've rang Vast and asked for a re ping, all good after a couple of mins, and as others has said also to leave the Vast receiver turned on and after a while hopefully will come good.
One thing when you have set up and and have this type of problem, see if you can get channel 800, this is a default channel and will work IF your dish is correctly aligned, don't even bother calling Vast until you have this channel
