Hi Ray I like to hear these pieces of pure gold. We are off in May heading your way over the top for winter so will write it down in my book to visit. May see you over there. Kim and Gary

Hey, don't tell too many people.
We love Shannon Mill, 40klm out of Manjimup and Cane Break, between Margaret River and Busselton. Both very quiet places.

I checked with DRAW last week and the Shannon Camp Area should be open before Easter. It is being upgraded so don't know if they are keeping the Wood Heater, but having hot showers & flushing toilets in a NP was great.

Ray, Did you post your picture from a phone of tablet? You need to orient the phone/tablet the same way as you took the picture when you are posting it to a forum.

Nice bit of rhyme Ray, thanks for it. Brought back memories of a pleasant country drive. We discovered Trigwell Bridge quite a few years back when we were scouting around for places to fish for redfin on the upper Blackwood River, but found the water had gone too salty and muddy up that high. Sad though that they could catch reddies up that way in the old days - maybe still, after very good rains. Water quality is a huge issue in the WA wheatbelt.
Hey, perhaps we should have a poetry thread. We had a flash of madness on our recent (first) caravan trip to the eastern states, when we came up with some dreadful verses to pass the time on the road. Swore we'd do more of it, but never did. Great fun though, and passes time. Publishing here just might upset our South Oz friends however. As usual, the majority wouldn't deserve the serve we scribbled after we'd just come through the Big Storm and Big Blackout of last September. We were thankfully unscathed and actually enjoyed our forced stay in Ceduna. And beyond! Great trip!

Peter, I took the picture on my I Phone, right way up, and then I emailed it to myself and downloaded it to my laptop and that's the way it came out. I have been into the picture program on laptop and found the rotate button so will be able to fix in future. Thanks

That'll be a long 5 years.
When I told my lot at work that I was retiring, they said 'You're a workaholic, you won't be able to hack it. You'll be back inside 3 months". "What are you going to do"?
Not having thought much about it I replied .. 'I'm going Caravanning'.
So to keep faith I went out & got a 4WD & ordered a Van.
We've still got both after almost 20 years.
I used to ring them at work from all round Australia just to remind them that I was not coming back. I can still recall one such call while lying in the sun on a rock just near the old Whaling Station at Albany watching a whale breaching in the distance. Magic. Beats working.
edit ..
BTW, I always take a volume or two of good Aussie poetry with me when I get on the road. Nothing like an old favorite by ABP or HL while watching a bush sunset with a coldie or two.
Unfortunately I don't have the skill of the OP to write my own. Well done Ray.

I cannot wait till I possibly can do the same, five years will pass by, watch my plans turn belly up when the political/politicians factor changes things yet again re goal posts.
I penned this Friday afternoon but signal wasn't strong enough to post at the time
Well here I am at Trigwell Bridge
On a sunny Friday afternoon
A peaceful and quiet little spot
Sunday will come around too soon
Its about 36k's out of Boyup Brook
About an hour and a half from my home town
There's no one else here to share happy hour
So I'll only throw a couple of beers down
There's plenty of shade and birds in the trees
The sun is slowly setting in the west
I'll have me some tea as soon as its cooked
And then get me a good nights rest
Since I've been sitting here these past 2 hours
Only 5 cars on the road have passed
The peace the quiet the ambience
One can only hope it will last
Over the past few weeks I've found some magical spots
And all within an easy drive from home
I just cant wait to get out there and travel full time
And just meander and wander and roam
1143 days for us.....
March 2020....
It cannot come soon enough
