We stayed at a couple of farms in WA - (caravanovernightfarmstay-facebook) - best was 12k from Busselton, totally private -five of us there - great hosts. We felt completely comfortable when we went out for the day, leaving the motorhome.

I've stayed on a couple of stations. The one that sticks out in my mind the most was Gabyon in WA. Huge sheep station. I had soooooo much fun there...I never wanted to leave. I was helping with mustering etc. it wasn't an expectation of course...but I love stuff like that. I found them on wikicamps. There's youcamp as well.
I'd do it again...but I tend to freecamp more than ever pay (lol), so it's not a thing I'd do all the time. If I do pay for caravan parks etc I need to be doing something (washing sheets or distilling water etc), so expecting water and power - often the stations aren't offering that..you just pay for being there. Fine I guess if you're on holidays and want an 'experience'.

Col Rennie, I have just read this article in a Caravan World magazine.
Good article and find Darmc. Too many people out there have no understanding of RV power. I read wikis etc where they complain, even of parks...'power tripped when I was using my toaster, kettle, microwave, air conditioner and electric element all at the same time' (and chuck in the hot water bubbling away in the background lol). I'm very surprised there are not more fires with the little people understand about power. It should be a mandatory induction with a van these days. One can only assume the operators offering powered sites that aren't compliant are doing it under the table. I guess that's going to happen more and more when people have the internet to just connect with providers.

We stay on farms or stations and freedom camp as much as possible. Some farm/station stays can be a bit pricie for what you get but this is relative to the prices of CPs in the same area. Not had a bad stay yet. There is also an facebook page listing country pub stays. Facebook. " Country pubs welcome oz nomad camping" & website "caravan overnight farmstay" $11 joining fee for this one, has a few farm stays around southern WA which doesnt have many free camps as well as across Au.

The property owners certainly looked after our hobby of bird watching - telling us the best places to see the "some of the smaller beauties of the outback"

Head for Food & Huts at Mt Oxley west of Bourke, you'll love it. It's on Outback Beds. The birds are awesome in Spring! Great camping next to the Bogan River.
