While travelling we occasionally need to print docs ,sign and then scan them to email back to sender
peviously we have put info on USB and gone into a nearby town and usually found a business that will print then scan for us
Sometimes this is not practical
Any suggestions on best printer/scanner appreciated
Thanks in advance

That's the go, a cheapie and a spare cartridge, then chuck it. Just don't print photos and expect them to last.

Keeping an eye on ebay is worth while,
I was browsing there the other day when an add suddenly appeared from "the Good Guys"
One H.P. Printer / scanner / Copier, with two cartridges,
came on the market for an incredible price of $ 11.90.
"Strike me" it costs me 5 times that, just to buy replacement cartridges for my Canon printer!!
Hard to believe they could sell them so cheap, so I jumped into the car and shot to our nearest store which happened to be only 2 km away,
I grabbed the only one they had in stock and as soon as I returned home I checked on the Computer, to find the Add was gone, all over , finished. !!!
I've since tested the Printer, it works fine, good as gold.

Geez....the poor old earth....burping with all throw away our waste.
That is cheap....just about cheaper than going to office works or library.
I have a little scanner. It's about the size of a remote control (A4 length though). I didn't want to donate the space to the size a printer takes up. So if I ever need to print (rare) I go somewhere and print it off. I do find the scanner handy though, because I bin (destroy) everything I get so I don't have to waste space on documents (I also run a tight back up ship x 2).

We've just bought a new CANON printer for home at $19, cheaper than cartridge replacement. When away store info on a USB & print it at the local library at 20 cents per sheet.

Ernie, the home printers tend to be bulky and may be very difficult to store in the van. They are also more subject to vibration than portable printers as well. If you pourchase one then keep the bits that secured the moving bits where applicable.
The best printers are a little on the expensive side so you may have to look at the third rate option of the home printers. The only portable models i am aware of are the HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile All-in-One Printer at around $450 retail and the Canon Pixma iP110 at around $300. As recommended above try the auction sites for cast-offs. However be aware that the early HP models came without a scanner it was an option option and may not come with the offering. The early HP ones just came with a black cartridge only.
