Imagine ---- if on this forum we were not allowed to discuss 3 way fridges or weight distribution hitches. Would the forum continue to exist?

Now guys, why ban the Greens Lakes sub forum - if you don't want to read it don't open it.
But you are right - what about - "what phone provider should I use" - ban that for sure!

Well firstly that was a great song.
secondly those subjects should only exist in the techies part of the forum
so this forum has other avenues if you like to explore them ,I guess there's something for everyone...

Just because an issue has been discussed many times before does not mean there is not something more current to know from newer members - How have our experts gathered all their ideas without having continually updated their knowledge base from somewhere?. I am an expert at nothing but find it easy to chose what post might or might not have interest to me

David (daffyfrancis) - you are correct - information has to be updated when things change - but how may times have we seen two threads, one after the other, about the same subject - have a search before you post - that is all we want, I think.

Greens Lake is a topic that never seems to run out of steam - I feel that I know it and everything that has ever happened there even though I had never heard of the place before joining this forum. Must head down Mexico way one day to see what all this hype is about I believe Greens Lake has to be getting close to being recognised as a grey nomad holy site. I don't want the topic banned I find it amusing to read about what GNs are doing down there - although I can tell you the picture I have in my mind of a certain person with feathers skinning dipping makes me a little nervous about actually heading that way.

This site has gone down hill over the last 12 months. I can remember the site when people were concerned about others. Where good friends were made. Where everyone was respected. It was a forum for exchanging ideas and experiences not one of "one upmanship." Unfortunately I think some of the posters from the other forum have transferred here.

I reckon you're right MSG, but if we just ignore them they'll move on. Some people just like to "blow thier own trumpet ", very shallow people that need to be in the limelight.
Cheers Owen.

Yeah Dougwe don't know why you would think that I was referring to you but all jokes aside I would really like to get down to Greens one day it sounds like a nice place to spend some time and meet other GNs. Probably stay away from the major holiday periods though as it sounds like it can get a little crowded.

The worst word in the world has to be "generator".
There are some poor people that go into "melt down" at the mention of that word.

Spot on MSG - Too many people with the my way or the highway attitude - and no compassion to see things from the others persons viewpoint .
My view is that of Voltaire's "I may disagree with what you say - But I'll defend to the death, your right to say it".

People need answers to problems on the techies forum and even though the subject as been done before there's always the chance that another member might come up with a fresh approach that will be the answer to there problem, just because it's been done before or a certain member finds it uninteresting, does not mean it can't be rehashed if we took that attitude you might as well shut the forum down...

Grumpy sods.
How many of you when young visited a library to learn how to catch rabbits, shoot a gun or learn to swim? It wouldnt be a good way to learn. Much better asking others and getting direct attention as search often is a pain.
Now, go burn ya snags..

I am so glad this thread didn't de-generate into a biffing match with Cindy putting a lock on it. I really don't mind if members want to re-discuss topics, its what make the forum work. I would also like to think that we could be a bit more tolerant of other members, it may not be as it seems, some members on pain management and having to cope with discomfort, this forum providing a window out of that.

Hi iana.
Some things are not what they seem. My attempt at humour and making s small point didnt come off.
On most social media a side smile like i put at the end of my comment or lol or pmsl are all meant that im half joking. But, well poor Ron D didnt get it and maybe me saying what i said "grumpy sods" kind of hit home.
People cross paths at times, thats life. All good
