Does anyone know the difference between Caframo Sirocco 807 and Sirocco II ,12 volt fans? I can not find the difference from the web information I have seen.

I just had a look on the net. You are right they both look the same with same spec. We have 2 in our van they are good but you have to make sure that nobody over twists the fan housing in the gimble or it could break the wires within. The wires are very small so difficult to repair. If I were to improve on the design it would be to ensure this couldnt happen. So perhaps that is the only difference and one is a new model?

I finally sent a email to a supplier and got this answer:
"The version two fan is a 12 & 24 volt in the one fan and it also has an extra timer function and they have also strengthened the outside frame of the fan. The 807 fan is no longer part of the range ".
They are expensive so I hope they are good - I just ordered one after having a terrible hot night in the van

The only difference I can see is the Auto Timer feature, I have the 807 model with settings for 2, 4, 6 and 8 hours whereas the Sirocco II specs show Four preset timer settings (3/6/9 or 12 hours). Other than that they look identical.
Seems you found the answer before I got my post through on my extremly slow Optus connection.

For those interested I sent a email to the Canadian Company and got this answer today:
"Thank you for your inquiry and your interest in the Sirocco fans. The Model 807 is no longer being manufactured. This model was manufactured in China and we have stopped producing them although they are still available in some areas and we will still stand behind the warranty of 2 years. The Model 7010 Sirocco II is being manufactured in Canada and this is our newer version of the 807. I would suggest that you purchase the newer version.
They are the same fan, but the Sirocco II is improved and made here now."

Just brought one yesterday. They are on special at the Whitworths marine shop, 807 version not the mark II.
Just an update, we paid $139.95 for the fan, will give it a smoke test today.

We have two caframo fans for about four years or so - best things we have ever bought. We now actually have three, and are planning another one up near the bed - very hot here overnight, had the bedroom one on all night on the timer - slept like a log. As we say they use hardly any power - is it .04 of an amp in an hour - doesn't even make a change on the usage meter,
Wouldn't be without them. We know lots who have purchased them as well - and they are as happy as we are.

Ours can be rotated to face down on the bed so on hot nights we can set the timer for a couple of hours or so and on low speed setting. They are very quiet and if I am laying on my side with my good hearing ear on the pillow I cant hear them at all!
Just right for a good nights sleep.
No need for that noisy aircon!
The strenthened gimble is a good move and an improvement to an all ready good product also good that it can be made in its home country.

OK, we have 3 of the DC12V fans on the left installed in our van. 1 in ensuite.....1 in Kitchen / Dining area.... and 3rd over the bed.
We just recently purchased one of the Sirocco fans on left and installed same so it can service the Kitchen / Dining and turn to service the bedroom .
I rather think that I have spent $140 on the Sirocco and it is no better than the service we get from the cheaper fans.
Just my opinion.

Do people remove the fan to travel? Do you tie the fan down when driving?
It seems to me that there would be quite a lot of bounce in the fan when driving

We have our Sirroco fan attached permanently to the walls - put them back against the walls and they do not move - we are in motorhome, so see and hear what goes on as we travel, unlike in a caravan where you don't know what is happening back there.

Installed mine upside down under an overhead locker, doesnt move when we travel.
Yep, they are a good little fan and use very little power.

We did the same (upside down), on hot nights we'll have it running all night and it hardly puts a dent in the battery.

I have one of mine mounted upside down and it has developed a crack across one of the two outer 'cradles', close to the base. This is probably my fault as a couple of times I forgot to move the fan back to its upright position (in my case hanging straight down) while I was driving, so there may have been some strain on this point that it wasn't designed for. So if it's upside down, make sure it's hanging straight down before you hit the road. I have another fan mounted sideways at the end of the overhead cupboard and there haven't been any problems with it so far.
I have mounted ours at 90'to the above, in the stowed against the wall position, there is a lug on the fan gimbal that I plan to locate or support with sponge rubber and Velcro, to support the fan while traveling.

This is the problem I thought that could happen when I installed the fan. There seems to be a lot of bounce in the fan.
I guess I will try and support it with Velcro as mentioned in the next post

We have no bounce in any of our fans - they are mounted with the control box vertical on the wall, with enough room to push the fan back to the wall.
