Just had a bit of a poke around the van today and took a look underneath.
I left my front water tank empty last trip and when I went to ensure the water tank drain valve was in the off position it just fell off in my hand!
The John Guest fitting had undone itself and was just hanging on to the end of the drain line.
I suppose without the pressure of water from a full tank behind it there was no force backward to keep it "locked" onto the short drain line.
I will now put JG locking clips on wherever I can get to the fittings around the van.
Just thought I would share that for others who may want to check.
Cheers Vince

I always have swapped mine out for heavy duty ball valve type taps
Mainly plastic Gardening type ones clamped with jubilee clips..
They stick out a bit but a definite shut off. and can't fall off.

Vince, if the installer did not use the locking clips on JG fittings he did not complete the installation. I suggest you go aroung your van and fit them to every fitting that lacks them before you experience troubles in other sections.

Funny you should mention that Peter.............
I went into a yard not far from home, it is full with a variety of caravans, NOT ONE locking clip in sight on all the vans I looked at!
It would seem it is common practice not to use locking clips, beware!
