Hi All, Does anyone know if the BT50 trailer sway control system is compatible with the ELKO ESC system fitted to vans? Im considering having ESC fitted to a new van but cant get any answers on compatibility or if I even need both.

If you don't get much response here try your question in the 'Techies' section as it is more suited to there.
I would assume the Dexter DSC would also not interfere with the vehicle DSC ... I would assume it would complement it.

18' 6" Paramount pop top behind 2012 bt50, caravan fitted alko esc, havent done a huge amount of km, but all great, both alko and mazda say all good prior to fitment. cheers craig

I had ALKO ESC fitted to Avida Multi Terrain van - experienced major problems van braking and scrubbing tyres when cornering - It would pull back and stop Nissan Patrol half way around corners particularly left hand turns. ALKO claim unit OK Avida claim wiring OK but problem has been verified by Engineers Report - Seriously consider who you allow to put these systems on your van - I believe that weight distribution bars (as I had with previous Jayco van) a better option.

Unfortunately, WDH is not an anti-sway device.

Hi Thisten I have Dexter fitted to my 20' van behind a VW Touareg, tows very well and have had no issues with unwanted braking etc. My research led me to Dexter as I believe the system is superior as it acts on individual wheels to straighten the van, same as a car's ESC. Cheers Vince

THe H\R does control the sway to a point.
The best Anti sway I've ever used though, over quite a few vans\yrs.
Is long drawbar. and rear set suspension.
They, combined or individually. really help to stabilise your rig.
WDH helps more and with early use of brake lever when needed,
you shouldn't have a problem
Even Distribution of your load, and weight spread t'ween the two
is much more important..
An unbalanced rig. No matter what controls you fit.
Will ALWAYS be a dangerous thing..

We have a Ford Ranger (brother of the BT50). We also have ESC on our caravan.
