Perth has been blanketed in smoke haze from several bushfires burning in the South West.
A smoke alert has been issued for the whole of the city, with authorities saying the haze stretches across the Perth metropolitan area.
Motorists are advised to take care, Drive with your headlights on !!

"Gee Thanks Bruce" I thought there was enough stink around here now ,
what with all the waste of money being spent on a Sports Complex that most sports clubs can't afford to use,
then there's that useless water play-ground that won't work at Elizabeth key, not to mention the rail system going North, which at present isn't going anywhere,
Don't mention the free traveling Lord Mayor either !!
"Yep" We live in a happy State for sure, !!!
Nothing more to mention, Political views are not wanted on this Forum, so I won't say any more, just wait for the big fire.

G'day Bushpie, I dunna no about the sky being challenging, I would think the Big Whites around Rotto would be more so, especially for a Bloke in a canoe !!!

its weird how the fires (usually controlled burn offs which hopefully we all support and put up with to avoid deaths and damage from uncontrolled fires spread their smoke to odd places.
We're in Dawesville, just south of Mandurah, and most of the burn offs are just south of us. Yet we have no smoke at all, but drive up 15 mins up the Kwinana Freeway (yeah - we dot have motorways over here you Easties) and its so thick, visibility is down to about 20 metres and most of us actually slow down (unusual for WA drivers) and then they cop it much further north at Perth and then further north still. Wonder if the wind and smoke drift northwards and are trapped by the mountain (well, hills really) that run lengthways with the coast. Then the contra winds or whatever push it back over the coast.......

We had lots of smoke here as well, plus a fire bug set fire to the bush up the road from us on Monday. The heli tankers were quick to respond. On tonight's news 6 fires in the Northern Suburbs lit by a firebug today, 2 still burning.
