When on the road we meet so many people. The big issue for me is remembering peoples names.
I tend to place the initials in my memory bank
For example, let's say the couple names are Fred and Wilma.
I immediately register F&W.
Now if that does not work I wait until they drop either name, then bingo
In a previous life ( Work) it was imperative that I could recall names, rather than have to ask the person again.
I reckon that I get it right as per the old 80 v 20 rule or better,
How do you recall the name after an introduction.???
By the way, the Jay & Dee refers to our initials of our christain names.

A seasoned traveller, once told me that when travelling, we meet so many other travellers that we will never remember everyone's name, but that we will always remember a face
A good conversation opener is, "I am sure that I have met you before, but I can not remember where."
As I am fairly easy to remember, due to having a few burns, I have had other travellers approach me and tell me that they had seen me previously I sometimes have not remembered them, as I had only gave them a wave and cheery hello, as I had been walking around
If I stopped to talk to every single traveller I had met, then my mouth would be too big to put my foot in it
Some people are lucky, and can remember names, unfortunately I am not one of them

After hearing their life story. Ho Hum. Why bother trying to remember their names, you'll probably never see them again? We're friendly but try to keep things ''short & sweet'' these days, otherwise you spend your whole trip ''gas bagging''.

For years now I have been using a simple trick for this problem and it never fails. If we swap names and his is Fred, I silently repeat his name inside my head half a dozen times. Then I do it again after 5 or 10 minutes and a couple more times during the rest of the day. Simple but is works for me. If there is nobody around, you can say their name out aloud, probably not a good idea if you are in company.

There is nothing wrong in being polite and you never know what you can learn gas bagging. We have picked up some great places to stay by gas bagging
