It appears that our 100 amp AGM battery is about to die.
This time we are looking at installing 2 batteries. Preferably thinking 120amp agm deep cell.
What would be the best batteries to buy???.
We bush camp a lot and like to charge all our phones and computers as well as watch foxtel.
I would not have a clue as to how much battery power we use, but I am tired of always watching our battery level, hence 2 batteries.
Looking for some help in this area.

Fullriver appear to be one of the more favoured. I have two 100 ah and they do the job. Without any sun at all they are good for three days of normal use
search around the internet I managed to get mine with free delivery
make sure you have room to house the extra battery

Even with 2 battery's you'll be watching the battery levels.
Think about ONE battery and a coupla panels. fixed or mobile.
Cost the same or less. and give MUCH longer power time away from mains.
You can always add another battery later.
I just bought two new batt's yesterday 90ah/cca whatever. Wet cells $220 each
(you can get cheaper these were HD Marine on special).
running on solar and charger I expecting around 6 yrs out of them.
If not having to keep it inside or enclosed space. I always use wet.
Good ones are that. Good. A lot cheaper. not much smaller in output.
plus I found the use by was pretty similar in actual usage.
If going AGM. Look at the GIANT. They also have very good rep and tend to be cheaper than FR.

My concern in adding another battery later is the consensus is that the new battery will end up at the same level as the existing battery.
Is this so???

I am not an Electrician
My research
Err, looking on this forum, and surfing the net, says yes it is so, putting a new battery in parallel with an old battery will eventually pull the new, down to the level of the old
Perhaps someone can explain in layman talk, the technical reason, why is it so

Well.
As I said. if charging them
There are multi outlet chargers. Look on net.
I have a marine three way one.
They output to the individual battery's what they need.
UP TO it's max capacity. (Mine 25a. A bit small 35/60a better.)
As long as you checking your system you'll notice one drawing more all the time.
If in Parallel the older one will always try to equalise itself with stronger one.
Drawing from it. We noticed that on boat battery banks when getting tired.
Charger permanently on try to equalize.
NEVER put a 60ah with a 75ah. both same is fine.

I know very little about the why's & where-for's of batteries.
I run 2x 250ah, 6v batteries & this works well.
Can someone tell me the advantages of the AGM batteries?
Not meaning to hijack Jay&Dees post but I'm thinking this could be useful info for you too.
