Hail the size of golf balls has pelted Adelaide in a sudden downpour as spring storms moved across South Australia.
At one stage, the Bureau of Meteorology was tracking four thunderstorms moving in a south-easterly direction across Adelaide, the Barossa and the Fleurieu Peninsula.
Senior forecaster Mark Anolak said some rainfall stations had received between five to 10 millimetres in just 10 minutes.
Mr Anolak said the bureau put out a severe thunderstorm warning, "particularly cell-based warning" for the Adelaide metropolitan area about 4:25pm which was half an hour before it struck.

I'm in Adelaide, we got some dark skies, a bit of thunder & a short, sharp shower of rain - media beat up! Back to perfect weather again ATM.

Must have been a bit patchwork. My son was in Adelaide city and had to take cover from the biggest hailstones he had ever seen. Didn't last long, half an hour later the weather was calm and sunny. Go figure :)
cheers, John.

I am at West Beach and it got pretty wild, horizontal rain, hail and wind. Lasted a short time but was intense. New van doesn't leak, yahoo. Bonus. Not the worst I've been in, showering during the worst, great light show standing outside the shower block waiting for the rain to stop watching the lightening!

Storm/hail damage is just one of the things that come with life on the road. (and at home)
Not a lot you can do about it sometimes. Just keep the insurance up.
Cheers, John.

Friends house in Mannum lost all the plastic sheeting on rear of house. Just the joins left but the rest on the floor.
Was very heavy rain and hail but not as bad as Adelaide but I sat in car till it finished as the hail on the nut would have hurt.
