1. we have a roof top Truma reverse cycle air cond. It does an ok job in the cold but I get sick of the noise. Has anyone bought a blow heater thats thermostically controlled and has a low fan noise?
2. When i want to connect the webber to the outdoor gas conection I have tot lay down on the ground and push firmly the conection piece in as Jayco have placed the connector on a chasis beam for a firm mounting. Usually thats ok, but this trip it has been wet and muddy.....getting soft in my old age. Has anyone redirected the connection so its easy to just bend down rather than having to lie down and crawl under?
thanks Steve

I prefer to use my $20 k mart fan heater with thermostat to the roof model. Its quieter, more efficient and the thermostat keeps us comfortable.

Caravan AIrcond's are good for one thing only.
Boat anchor.
$3 and half grands worth of rubbish.
OK Air Coolers but noisy as.
Split Inverter units are the best.
Otherwise. as said
Electric fan heaters from Coles/Woolies.$20-30..
I carried two. Still have one
They are the best heating for those small spaces.
one at each end with my 6.5mtr van.
One with the smaller. Coromal 535.

Have to disagree ! My Lotus Van had a Dometic rev/cyle a/con agree that was inefficent and noisy, However my new Olympic has an Ibis Rev/Cycle Cools great and heats great, ! Fan heaters are good IF your connected to power, or want to run your genni for hours on end, ! -- However I chose to fit a Diesel heater, as I do roughly 50/50 C/park and Freedom camping, If in a park I use A/con heat, and camping I use diesel you can buy a good diesel heater for around $860 complete, and very simple DIY fitting takes about 2 hours

Re no 2 - Have excatly the same problem and will be investigating at first opportunity if there is a fitting that can be set somewhere near the cylinders or on the towbar somewhere.
I was thinking a male to male extension left permantly in outlet and attached to towbar/bracket near cylinders?
I will be interested to see if other Jayco owners have a suggested solution

As to your gas connection - probably a bayonet? Have it moved 20mm in from flush to the outside wall on your van.
That's where ours is, behind the jacking bracket with an aluminium protective cover easy to get to and haven't had it damaged yet.
Cheers

Yep, re-route the gas piping from the shut-off valve to the outer edge of the near side support leg and instead of the fitting hanging down turn it 90 deg level and facing rear then rivet a cover on to protect it.
A plumber could do it for less than a van repair shop as that is who I used after a hexy quote from repairer.
I would post a pic of how ours is but not that savvy on the how to do it

yeah Vince it took me awhile on how to get the pic up there, as we are currently away from home.
sjo yours is still underneath the van?
I was thinking of
re routing it out the side through the panel/wall near the bracket for the foot of the awning?

hi again, thanks for the suggestions. Seems we are all on the same page. Vince just take a photo and save it on your computer/ ipad, then click on attach file button, which is below where you are writing a post, and go find that photo, double click it, then it will upload into your post. Easy as 1,2,3.

Yep mines still in easy reach just in from the side wall behind the jacking bracket.
The idea thru the panel wall is a good one and one I would have like to have done but our van has high ridge ally making it a bit difficult to seal.
Off memory ebay have the gas points for around $57 when I was looking.

Re question 2, Jayco initially installed mine as you indicated but I wouldn't take delivery until they put something more sensible in. This is what they did and it works well.
edited to ask why it always posts photos upside down when they're not upside down before posting.
