I see auntie Rosie is learning an instrument and wonder apart from her because she's a talent is there hope for us oldies learning to play a keyboard?
I mean is it cognitively possible at my old age of 65?
Cheers and thanks in advance.

Hi Cloak , I have got a friend who learn't the banjo at 63 ,that was a few years ago now and to hear him play now ,he is really hot.The banjo is considered on of the harder instruments to learn .
Learn the guitar or the uke as these are considered reasonably easy and they are easy to transport.

G'day Cloak,
I highly recommend a Uke. They are small, light weight and not very difficult to learn to play.
Uke's are ideal for camp sites because they are not as loud as some other instruments.
It is surprising how bringing out a musical instrument prompts others to bring their instruments out, which can be a nice way of bringing people together.
Cheers Pete.

I've been playing guitar for 50 years, still got 3 electric guitars plus amplifiers & an acoustic all at home.
I take a ukulele on the road with us, it's easier to transport.
If you buy a ukulele get a good quality one at around $100 from a music store. Don't buy a toy, they're rubbish.
This is an excellent resource for songs etc.

I am considering the Flute which I started to learn at High School. Quickly stopped as there were two flutes and an out break of mumps, followed by tonsillitis. I did learn twinkle twinkle little star! I would love to try it again.

Don't get much for $100 in Oz nowadays DD, a basic Kala soprano will cost you $100, then you will need a bag/case, tuner, instructional material etc.
I am 76 and have taken up the guitar, banjo and ukelele.
It is very hard, but I am determined to master all three
I love old jazz standards, and I also love West Coast Rock, The Eagles, America etc
You are never too old!

I started learning Guitar a long time ago...then hit a life road bump. Recently picked it up to have another go
What ever instrument appeals go for it. I don't think age is a barrier if you have the determination. The family on the other hand like mine might need ear plugs

I am part of a Ukulele community group.....average age >65.
If you think you are too old......you probably are......and your thinking is the problem, not your age.
Just go do it, and have fun.

Guitar here. Picked it up 3 years ago and now at 65 having a great time with it. We pull up, I take out the guitar and spend an hour playing. On a number of occasions someone wanders over with their guitar and either teaches me something, or visa versa and we attempt to jam. Or I attempt to jam. Its been a great experience and so relaxing for someone like me who has had no musical experience or talent.
