I must be the odd one out then. I get more and more scathing toward human beings and their revolting behaviour each and every day.
I was robbed the other day!!! From a bank where I'd only ever in the life of the account pulled out money twice from their own bank ATMs!! So far the bank reckoned they've 'guessed' my card number!!! (Official investigation to take place supposedly). I fail to see how you can guess a card number when you need a matching CCV or PIN to go with it.
I think all thieves should be shot and we clear out the gene pool to start again.
I don't have a lot of sympathy towards people getting scammed either to be honest. People are either looking for something for nothing or the easy way out. I'd go and get the dog in this case.
The saddest part of this story is the number of dogs that will end up on the scrap heap when people lose interest in them and their new found exercise routines.

I agree with the above. It would have been Gumtree!!
When I was looking for a van I found one that I liked on Caravan and camping (can't remember the price) rang and spoke to the owner and was happy with it. In the next few days I looked on other sites and saw the exact same one - different location, different price on Gumtree, rang this different guy and was told he would deliver it from Queensland for a deposit of $1000.00!! Rang the original guy and he went to the Police (not sure of the outcome) probably nothing happened because these scammers use different phones and work out pretty quickly how dumb you are. A lot of people are trusting. Me, I don't don't trust anyone! Sad but true.

These scammers are placing undetected camera's on the ATM's they can read your pin that you are punching in. That's why the banks advice you to place your hand over the card when entering the pin.

We have Cornish Rex Cats. Around $2 grand a pop with papers for showing. Flew last couple in from Adel and Sydney 12 yrs ago.
A Person would be real dumb to buy outside of the circles for a decent animal Too many shonks around nowadays.
I only ever use my Debit card on machines. NO access to any accounts. and a different banking group to where I use card.
Paying any bills or buying. Cash from Coles/Woolies, $200 covers most things. or mainly. Pay by cheque.
Pensioners acc't. Free, no charges and free cheques.

I recently set up Apple pay on my iPhone which means that I don't need to carry a plastic credit/debit card as I can just use the phone at the terminal when paying. Even if someone steals and gets into my phone they can't trigger this payment system unless they happen to have the same fingerprint as me. We are moving more and more towards a cashless system with ever increasing security safeguards unfortunately these scammers will keep coming up with ways to get around them.

For normal everyday things involving money. The $200 cash from supermarkets covers most.
Split items of purchase.one trolley. one Mars Bar.
= $400.
Buying things I normally buy and pay whatever, wherever they sold.
Just pre load Debit card while at home, or computer in van. or phone. to cover the amount.
Any serious figures involved. It's always a crossed. Named Cheque, to person/company involved. Or bank account transfer. me to you. .
Bank cheques are dodgy nowadays.
I can't even remember the last time I used a card machine. Yrs.
When travelling, I normally carry a coupla grand in 100's in back of wallet. and Di the same in her bag.
NOTHING beats cash on demand. It covers everything.

Basically a lady was scammed out of nearly $6,000 while thinking that she was buying a puppy for her daughter
My opinion, so I could be wrong, is that as we get older, we also become more trusting towards others.
With no disrespect towards the Lady in the article, news reports like these help to keep the rest of us on our guard
