I don't use my phone very much so went from Telstra to Aldi and the pre paid plan with 365 day expiry. After you get to below $10 you get a text to say you may need to recharge.

Aldi does data packages. One of them is for 8GB per month for I think $45.
It's called the xxl value pack.

Aldi and the many other Telstra resellers (& the Optus ones) are okay if You are sticking to the major centres along the coast.
Telstra does NOT offer their resellers full service. Have tried a couple and subscribe to the old saying about getting what You pay for.

I can't see what's wrong with Telstra pricing our plan with them is a cracker wi fi modem supplied 11gb data $30 per month.
the mobile phone plan $70 mth unlimited calls, we have always been with them and my misses is a good negotiated..
Thats old news. They now use the same as telstra. Have done for about 6 months. Thats what they claim anyway.

I have never had a problem with Telstra, never been with anyone else. We have two mobiles, internet 4g dongle, my tablet - the most expensive for us is recharge on the dongle - we get 16g for $140 (prepaid) use it quite freely, then recharge - 3 weeks, a month - who knows, depends on how much we use it - we enjoy the internet, so don't mind paying. Phones - mine $30 month, $700 calls, $200 texts, and generous data - the tablet is my new toy, and I am just learning what it can do - lots of fun! The first thing we look for when we get to a place - the internet!

As it says on that faq "use PART of Telstra's 4G and 3G mobile network" It is only part of it and if you compare the coverage map from the link you gave to the full Telstra coverage map it doesn't give the same coverage, for instance it doesn't give cover across the Nullabor and much of the WA coast and inland Queensland.

On a slight different note : i have 3rd party bills on my telstra account i cannot seem to remove : $200 plus extra a month.. have no choice to move on :: My son is with Virgin and often i can get reception yet he can ;; Internet away from wifi is data via your phone :: if you have mobil recieption you have internet;; Just dont go over your data limit ,, Pay the extra its much much cheaper ::

We had a plan with Telstra where we had a new phone as part of the deal and only 4gb of data the phone was only a cheaper model IPhone 4 so the deal was 70 dollars for the phone and 30 dollars for the Internet..total 100 per mth..
Wifey who is the worlds best wheeler and dealer conntacted a Telstra call centre and negotiated a hot deal ,we now own the phone so that's not part of a contract ,the contracts up,the data is not enough ,if you want our business ect, ect ,yap yap, and that's the deal she squeezed out of em...
Ian Dont go to Telstra shops deal hard with there call centre it worked for us were very happy now with our deal..

These new plans aren't advertised - seems you have to go into a Telstra shop and they have them under the counter.
All three devices now share the WHOLE data available to all three; saves worrying about Telstra charging $10 for excess use on phone 1 whilst the other two have unused data.
Phone 1 is on Telstra's GO MOBILE BYO PLAN costing $50 per month with a $1000 allowance (16 hours) for calls to;
land lines
mobiles
13/1300 and 1800 numbers
SMS/MMS.
NOT INCLUDED ARE;
1234, 12455 or 12456 numbers (those horribly dear directory assistance numbers).
1900 premium numbers (why would you bother?).
Phone 2 is on Telstra's COMPANION PLAN costing $35 per month with UNLIMITED for calls as listed above;
It's all linked together by Telstra's DATA SHARE SIM PLAN which is $5 per month.
The three plans total $90 per month (less my $10 Loyalty Discount) and for the $80 a month I'm sharing 10.6 GB of data and don't have to worry about the $10 extra data on phone 1.
