Not necessarily. The max current is a better indicator. A genny that will deliver 6 plus amps will do the job (ie. Honda 2KVA).
KVA is not wattage as power factor, inductive and resistive components need to be taken into consideration. The KVA Volt Amps is the resultant of these two processes.
Sorry for the technical jiberish,

I run a Honda 20i (2kva) with my Ibis 3 and works a treat. I only ever use the gene when real hot and 'off the grid', solar does the rest.

The start current will be the deciding factor not the run current.

From all reports they very noisy too.?
As loud as the Dometic in wall?? That's loud.
Inverter units are the ones to go for if buying/installing.
I have a 3.5kva Genny (Chinese Honda),
runs both my Dometic and mate's LG Inverter split unit he installed in his van.
Plus lighting. and grunts a bit when fridges turn on.
Otherwise just floats along.
Heavy, Yes. But bought primarily for power outs in house..
Runs two houses, or mine with Air cond.
A genny gives you drill. Grinder. Air cond.
all the necessary's wherever, when travelling.
One of the most important items in your kit when you really.... go offroad.
Along with an Epirb or sat ph.

This exact question was asked on the caravanners forum and the majority of the feedback from owners was that the Honda 2kVa generator will run the ibis units pretty well as long as nothing else was running and also providing that it had the soft start feature (ibis models built later than 2008).

Hi I have a new ibis mark 3 and our Honda 2kva runs it well and I don't find the A/C noisy either good luck, Danny
We have an ibis rooftop air con.
No idea on if mk 1 2 or 3.
Looks like 2 or 3 from pictures.
I cannot seem to find specific details on power it uses on start up and to run?
Does any one know???
Have a look may help
