Collected the new van on Wednesday and have been busy setting up and packing it for the shake down trip to Tuncurry tomorrow for a few days, then further north.
3 way fridge is not working right, so will call into the Jayco Dealer tomorrow on the way past to have them check it.
Congratulations on your new van purchase and your decision to go with a Jayco Starcraft. We purchased our 21' Sterling from Jayco Newcastle in 2010. Very happy with Jayco Newcastle and yes we did have some issues. We had to take it back to Hexam on 2 separate occasions from Canberra. But you know what they fixed the issues were first class to deal with and went beyond what was required. I would have purchased our 2nd Jayco from them but they did not have the model in stock and could not source one from Jayco. Hope they are still keeping their standards high and you are absolutely correct in taking the van for a shake down run. This is really mandatory and in the end you will not be caught short when the time comes to do some big trips.
All the best

Hi, just a couple of things with the frig if its a gas related problem , first look in a cupboard near the frig for a gas tap, then if thats on try this after checking you have gas and turned on, battery power on, go to the stove and light one of the burners now try the frig. It just helps pull the gas though.
After I have changed gas bottles it sometimes takes a bit longer to get it to start.
All the best for the adventure, hope this helps.

Thanks Radar,
Fridge was working fine on 240v, had checked it on gas as well and working OK. Also working briefly on battery.
Set the fridge going on 240v yesterday, froze some ice cubes set on mid way, so working great. This morning, not working. Isolator had tripped. Check shows that isolator still trips when everything in van turned off and power switched on.
Gas also not working today.
Will leave it to the dealer to trouble shoot tomorrow.
Will need some frozen water to keep stuff cold in the esky................

Great looking rig Peter and Judy hope you enjoy your shake down trip and that you don't find too many little problems - it should be an easy run up to Tuncurry and further north now that the long weekend traffic has cleared. We're pretty envious of you as we are still waiting delivery of our Retreat that we ordered back in May. We went up to Paravans yesterday to measure up something on a van that they have on display and they told us that we shouldn't expect to see ours now until November. Don't know how long you guys had to wait but we are really keen to get out there and start enjoying the lifestyle, time always seems to go slower when you are waiting for something (which at our age may be a good thing).

Belmont Bear,
Good things come to those who wait!!!!!! Not long now until November.....
We were quite lucky, we only waited about 6 weeks as the Dealer had a stock unit ordered with all we wanted on it, so we got in on that one.
Still packing and about to ring the Dealer

Will try couple days free camp and see how long we can stay out that way. Expect 2-3 days free with the way we are currently set up.
