Nailed it. Well I use BEST.
The link I keep posting won't work. Google BEST filters.

Another B.E.S.T filter user here. You can get them on evilbay as well. Most good caravan accessary places have them.
Keep safe on the roads and out there.

Another vote for B.E.S.T filters and Hoselink fittings.

I got a B.E.S.T. filter too.
I drained my tanks then refilled them through the filter. Then I ran a host from the tap on the van back into the tank filler pipe and using the water pump I recirculated the water for a couple of hours to "polish" it as the BEST manual says.
Certainly, I couldn't taste any funny or odd tastes in the water afterwards.
I'll run through the same procedure again before our next trip.

I use a dual 1 micron filter set into the van (paper first, carbon second). Then there is an everpure 0.5 micron to the drinking water tap - from that I only make/drink distilled water, so I have a very steady quality of water for ingesting, no matter where it hails from. You can't be too careful of water quality with regard to a van and yourself. I've already had to replace one check valve due to heavily mineralised northern water. The old govvie feed us all sorts in the town water too!!! Shocking stuff.

Thanking everyone who mentioned B.E.S.T. water filters
I was unaware of their existence
After reading up on them, I have just purchased one locally, at home base
After purging the carbon dust, as per the instructions I took a sip from the hose before filling my tanks Also as per the instructions the water had a metallic taste, when I took a sip from the hose
I have one question Is the metallic taste always there, or does it fade away
