Travelled out of Melbourne northbound today on Hume Fwy and noticed that the VicRoads weighbridge at Broadford is now a 24 hour self weigh when VicRoads are not using. I drove over scales to check weight as did several trucks. Great to see this free service being available. Must be well calibrated because all 5 scales recorded exact same readings.

Good one DickO
Do you have a nearby cross street/off/on/ramp so that us Gentlemen from the wild west, can pretend that we are civilised, and check it out as we come through

I think that is one of the best things to come out of a government department in many a long day. Quite sure that some will find a negative but the positives should far outweigh any of the minuses.

As you drive north from Melbourne it is about a mile past the Broadford off/on ramp.

After my experience looking for a weighbridge while in Townsville, this is a great idea and one I hope is picked up by other States, sooner than soon.
Good one DickO.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

MOST Council "Dumps" have a weighbridge for trucks.
The several I've been over in different towns have been free.
Just don't expect him to do multiple weighings. if people behind you OK.
Go in with car. Then back again later with van.
ALl commercial scale have to have regular checks. and be within certain limits.
Normally every week or so I believe.
