Hi all - just thought I would put this app on that is available for Apple and Android - called EMERGENCY+ - - when you open this up, it has your co-ordinates and the address of where you are at, showing not only to you - but to the number you dial - which is also on the screen, ie. 000, SES, Fire - should be mandatory for all travellers. Haven't tried it in remote areas, but will have a try next time we are out there.

I know first hand what happens Emergency has been the person who answered 000 calls , Someone reporting an Emergency and do not have any idea where they are , You would have to ask the name of the last town they had past and then have to a unit from both end of the section respond to make sure you can get help has quick has possible .

Have had on my phone since January. Needed to use it in only place in Victoria where there is no Telstra reception. No one answered UHF, had to drive injured backpackers to.nearest town.

Just remember to activate the WI-FI on phone B4 hitting button or the location is blank Just get the Lat/Long. Plus services to call.
Bloody magic app for anybody I reckon
And the older/basic phones without GPS won't locate you either.
Just make ph call for you.

It's also one of the rare apps that is available on all three main OS - iOS, Android and Windows Mobile. (Though I notice that Samsung is in the process of establishing a fourth OS, just what we need. :/ )
