G'day! The above is quite genuine. The woman who owns the house has done limited travel, and would welcome another solo. There is enough room to park a moderate size m/home in one of the two driveways. You will have full access to the house, should you wish to prepare and eat meals in the house. The place is in suburb of Perth. A tidy, senior solo M/F is preferred. Rules are, social to none drinker, non smoker and definitely no drugs. Maximum stay, to be negotiated. It does sound like a good idea, and I regret my previous tongue in cheek reply, and find that I am unable to remove it

But...
I would be asking for a person to produce a police clearance, prior to entering my home as a semi permanent guest
Any decent person, can easily obtain a police clearance within a few minutes, while waiting at a police station, while the police are checking their records

Hopefully this should deter undesirables from applying

I don't know where you got that one from, Tony Bev. If one is looking for employment some would be employers will insist on a National Police Record check. This costs about $100 and takes about 21 days. Police are not going to give a clearance for someone to enter another's house on a quick "few minutes" interview.

I don't understand why some posters feel the need to spruik about things when they have no idea.

Back in the day I required a (what I had called a Police Clearance) but the technical term is

National Police Certificate

Each time I renewed my explosive licence

As I went to the police station, paid for, and obtained the National Police Certificate
I just sent it off when paying my explosive licence, and the copy was mine to do what I wanted

As 2005 saw me no longer employed in the hard rock mining playground, I had no further use for an explosive licence or Police Clearance

I shall try and attach my certificate as I answer the next poster

I know nothing of being checked for working with children, but I would assume that any person who went to court for any criminal offence, would be on the register which the police check

Back in the day, when I was in the employment playground

One of the rides was to do with the use of explosives in the open pit mining

After the 9/11 Twin Tower terrorist attack, one of the prerequisite to renew my Shotfirer Licence was to obtain a police clearance, as my licence allowed me to purchase, transport, and use, explosives in both the mining and town site environment

My last (what I had called) a police clearance, but what says on the top, is actually a  

National Police Certificate

I obtained it by walking into the Bunbury WA police station, producing nothing more than my drivers licence, (with my picture on it).
I did not mention why I wanted a police clearance, and they did not ask.
Not sure of the cost, but perhaps around the thirty odd dollar mark, back in that day

If the attachment comes up, it is a copy of my very last police clearance
I have rubbed out my street and surname, just in case Interpol are still looking for me

I can only repeat what I have already said

A decent person will have no problem obtaining a police clearance

It appears that you can no longer just walk into a police station, to obtain a police clearance, as I did back in the day of 2004

You can as Old Col has said receive an Accredited Australian Police Check, from the link he has put up

I will assume (so I could be wrong) that no further investigation means that:-

• You have never had a criminal conviction
• You are not on the police database of people who have ever appeared in court

I read somewhere about a fee of around less than $53

I wish the Lady concerned all the best, in her endeavour to assist another solo Grey Nomad, as I can see just a little bit of where she is coming from
