The other day i hooked the caravan up ,and checked the lights ( tail lights ,brake ,park ,turn indicators ) all came on except clearance on the caravan & the dash lights in the car .Have checked fuses in the car all look okay .What do you auto electricians think it could be wrong .JOHN.

I think you have two issues, you say the park lights are working yet the clearance lights are not. These are normally on the same circuit, so I think you have a connection problem on the van. Trace the clearance light circuit to where it is joined into the park light wiring. doubt there is a fuse for each service.
The dash lights on the vehicle would be a separate issue.

Sounds like the problem is in the tow vehicle.Time to get to work with the wiring diagram and the multimeter.

On the tow vehicle ,the dash lights and low beam do not work ,all the other lights work reverse, turn, brake,hi beam .It just the dash lights and low beam that do not .

Yep seems a fuse or burnt out relay / breaker ? You'll need to check all light fuses . Should be on park fuse ? Dont know what brand ? Or model ? Most light systems have fail safe where all lights don't blow all at once if there's a short . High beam etc on different circuits .
