Love reading all the comments on various topics, I am planning my first trip commencing late May 2017, I will be travelling solo in a hired pop top to trial the lifestyle, Leaving Melbourne I plan to head to Alice Springs at a leisurely pace from there is anybodies guess I am not putting any time frame on my trip. Would love to connect with others in the areas I pass through so will monitor the forum. I have not towed a van for 25 years so am planning to do a refresher prior to departing. I am having electric brakes fitted to SUV but any further suggestions from seasoned GN's would be appreciated.
Cheers

Welcome to the gang movin, enjoy here and out in the playground.
Sounds a good trip so far and you have it all under control so,
Keep safe on the roads and out there.

I think you will learn most of what you want to know by using this forum or observing other people's set ups to build your knowledge .but with an unknown caravan the first thing I would do is have the wheel bearings looked at...

Hello moving
As others have already said, welcome to the forum
As you have already been reading some of the comments, you will have noticed that most of the members on this forum are very friendly and helpful
I can recommend the Camps Australia Wide 8 book, as it gives all the camping spots, both free and paid If you are carrying a laptop then I can recommend the WikiCamps Australia download, as it will be more up to date, but the camp book (number 5 at that time), was good enough for me I did not know about WikiCamps until after I had started my first lap
Hope this info was helpful to you I hope that you have an enjoyable trip

You mention traveling at a ''leisurely pace''. Great idea. There are so many people in a hurry to be somewhere at some particular time. What's the hurry we're retired.
