We changed our MOB phone from Commander to Telstra. The one problem that both of us have is getting to the phone fast enough before the caller goes to message bank. Can this be changed, or is it a subtle prank by Telstra to get more calls by making us call back?

Hello iana
I had the same problem some years ago and found the fix
Go into a Telstra shop, and ask them to extend the time the phone rings before it goes to message bank They will go on line and change the settings, while you wait
I only found this out because after buying a new mobile phone from them I found that I could not get it out of my buttoned shirt pocket before it went to message bank I went to return it, and get my money back, within hours of purchasing it
Perhaps others actually know how to do this, and will advise accordingly
Hope this helps you out

Thankyou, same problem, I keep my mob buttoned up in the shirt pocket, otherwise it drops on the floor when I'm working.

Ian, go on the Telstra web site and use 'live chat' great service and saves going to them or trying a verbal chat on the phone. I used it the other day for another reason and was impressed.

Use this code to extend ring time
To extend the ring time, enter the following sequence on your mobile phone:
**61*101** (number of seconds: 15, 20, 25 or 30) #.
Then press the call/send button.
Seemed to work for most but several people had problems, maybe with their MessageBank setup.
Cheers Joe

agree with live chat with Telstra. They are on a winner with that. Connect on to live chat before you start looking at the forum and it will beep at you when they are online. Sometimes they can be busy.

When I purchase each new phone [ approx every 3-4 yrs ] from Telstra I always get them to remove message bank ,as I don,t want any messages left ,that way I don,t have to return calls.I figure if you want to talk you will ring back plus you are not left with an obligation .

Agree re the Telstra 24/7 Live Chat - always helpful and obliging, and prompt.

yes - message retrieval can be costly, that's why initial setup has a short ring time - Telstra want it to go to message bank so they make more money.
We also cancel message bank because I don't want to have pay to retrieve un-important messages when we have been away from service for a few days. And as moamajohn says if its important they will ring again.

Hi Frank, thanks for the fix, but the link doesn't work - has it been truncated? I did a search on the CrowdSupport site and ended up at this link
