I thought I would start a new thread. I would like to know how the gas system works.
What keeps the gas flowing when the burner is alight?

Thanks Peter, yes I do have that manual. I can see that the gas is controlled by the electric solenoids, BUT I do not understand where the signal to the solenoids comes from. I am only used to pilot lights with thermo coupling. Hopefully there will be someone who can explain it to this simple lad.

Gas normally travels/comes from pressure preloaded in bottle.
The solenoids/jets etc.
Just control flow as it is propelled through them
Off.on. High. low.
It will always move away from bottle, if exit point opened
until bottle empty.

You have obviously misunderstood macka. What signals the solenoids to stay open when the burner is going? In other words the safety issue that stops gas flowing when the flame accidentally goes out from a wind gust etc?

Hi Paul.
Just gone through this my self, had trouble lighting and keeping going. i found a service manual on line that gave some info.
The gas supply solenoids are controlled by a micro processor, along with the ignition sequence.
The probe that goes into the combustion chamber, serves two purposes. The high voltage side provides the spark to ignite the gas, and the negative or return probe, when sufficiently heated by the flame sends a very small current to the micro processor, this in turn serves as a flame sensor. It took some time to get my head round this.
Now in order for all this to work, the probes have to be clean, with no carbon build up, so after stealing my partners emery boards, it now works. I will try to find the manual and link it.

I have this curse of always needing to know how things work.
Although, this curse has served me well with type 1 Diabetes since 1970.

No worries Macka, I was only aware of the thermocouple system, and was wanting to know how the SW6DEA system worked.

I'm trying to get my head round a new 55in 'smart" tv I bought coupla days ago.
Jeez it almost wipes your a-se for you.
It's definitely a lot smarter than me. Electronically. BUT..
I still control the OFF switch.

It is called flame rectifaction,thermostat calls for heat computer chip ,scarico ,phillips or other type direct power to solenoids these open at same time spark to burner ignties gas at burner.there is a sensing rod at flame which detects heat and convert to micro farrod electrical charge and send back to control box.once this is done the sparker stops and burner keeps going until thermostat senses that it has reached temp.anyway that's a rough generalization.

Ok, I cleaned the electronic starter probes. I then fired it up and took video.
You can hear it stop and then relight, then stop and relight again and then it kept going.
That could be because I had allowed air into the line.
I will test it again tomorrow after mounting the flue.
