As a newbie I need a bit of advice on a couple of things.
The painted surface on the exterior of the ibis roof top aircon has worn away in places. I'm going to paint it but not sure if the roof is safe to stand/ kneel on. The van is a 2008 jayco Sterling outback.
Also, the cover of the aircon appears to be fibreglass, although I can only just reach it from steps. Can anyone confirm that?
regards
Mark

Welcome to the gang Mark, enjoy here and out in the playground.
If you weigh in as a 'featherweight' you should be ok. However, if you weigh in as a 'heavyweight' like me, put a plank on top reaching from one side to the other and crawl on that.
The cover is more than likely plastic so get appropriate paint.
Keep Safe on the roads (and the roof)

Hello nuttyalmond
Welcome to the forum, I am sure someone with experience of a 2008 Jayco Sterling Outback, will come along and put you wise.
As Dougwe has already said, if in any doubt, put a long plank across and make sure it overhangs the roof
I have a 2006 Jayco Conquest, and there is no way I would climb onto the roof, and I am a lightweight. The roof is about 6 millimetre thick of fibreglass type material, the ceiling is about 4 millimetre thick of hard cardboard type material, and in between there is about 50 millimetre of nothing
Also take note what Dougwe has said about painting plastic. I am led to believe that normal paint is no good for plastic

You can get spray paint suitable for plastics from Supercheap. The plastic on Airconditioner covers is most likey ABS which should be OK cause most plastic bumpers are made from ABS and that's what the paint is generally sold for.
